Jokes about the erstwhile DNI aside, this meeting sounds like an actual constructive, adult move by the Trump Administration foreign policy team.
We'll see, constructive and adult are not words normally used to describe the trump administration. But it would be a refreshing change.

Bro Trump ready yourself. DC will likely be quiet. The rest of the nation is going to steal your thunder with protests everywhere. Millions in the streets. Your birthday party is going to be a family picnic in comparison. Guess there will be a gaudy pavilion in DC’s Ellipse for your review. Going to be a national embarrassment.

Oh! Don’t forget a fresh Depend®.

“… Habba said two of the counts carry a maximum sentence of up to eight years in prison. A third has a maximum sentence of one year. She characterized the charges as “forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers.”

The indictment is the latest development in a legal-political drama that has seen President Donald Trump’s administration take Democratic officials from New Jersey’s largest city to court, tapping into the president’s immigration crackdown and Democrats’ efforts to respond. The prosecution of McIver is a rare federal criminal case against a sitting member of Congress for allegations other than fraud or corruption. …”

I guess it is time to see how far the Presidential immunity doctrine extends to lower level of government officials.

Pardon my language, but the whole fucking point of governors asking for federal assistance is because their state has had a natural disaster that they are not able to financially or in some cases physically handle by themselves. So they need a larger organization - say, the national government - to step in and help. What Trump is really telling the states is "drop dead, we're not giving you a dime, deal with it on your own." Just wait until Florida or some other red state gets hit by a Helene-type devastating Hurricane, which is inevitable.

It's insane, but then it just joins an already long list of batshit crazy insane actions by this administration, from trying to eliminate vaccines to gutting the CDC to trying to paralyze and take over major universities to sending the Marines and National Guard (against the wishes and advice of nearly every state and local leader) on the false pretext that LA is wracked by major riots that, according to Dear Leader just today, were in danger of burning the whole city down. And that's just the short list. Again, people are literally going to die (or lose everything they own with no recourse) solely because of the stupidity and gross incompetence of the people now running our government into the ground.

*Eliminate anything that promotes minority history, women's history, or the fact that some really bad things have happened throughout American history (now including Trump's elections in 2016 and 2024).
Seriously doubt that. The Smithsonian is not controlled by the Executive. JD is on the board, but he is just one vote out of many. It is mainly about assuring Congressional funding remains strong.

The Smithsonian just told Trump to F off and that it wasn't going to get rid of the Portrait Gallery head, despite Trump "firing" her.

Why?

You expect this group to have a reasoned meeting in which the experienced adults and experts helped create a good plan?
