They [EU] were nasty, … the European Union is in many ways nastier than China … we have all the cards … so they’re going to have to pay more for healthcare and we’re going to pay less

🤔 Today’s presser is sponsored by the word “stupid” apparently

whoever is in charge of his makeup/self tanner is doing him so, so, so dirty.

looks like an absolute clown at all times. i guess they think that's preferable to when he isn't done up and looks like a corpse?

I would GLADLY accept someone pantomiming the corpse of Joe Biden while he's stretched out in a coffin in the Oval Office over this insanity.

Even if this is true - and given his record I wouldn't count on it - I'll bet that every one of those factories were going to be built before he took office in January. Having realized that their base never double checks anything they say and doesn't even care if they're telling the truth, they just take credit for things they didn't do and spin defeats like his backing down to China in his trade war as a massive win for him and MAGA. And his base just eats that crap up. It's all spin, all the time.

I swear to god, SNL at its absolute prime couldn’t adequately parody this. I’ll NEVER understand how HeelYeah, Ramrouser, Pandemic Blue, etc. can defend this idiocy.
Oh, he's just talking about the mystical warrior Chang, whose sword is displayed with pride by Marco Rubio.

Pretty impressive weekend for Trump Administration. India/Pakistan. Russia/Ukraine. China trade pause. American hostage release. Stock market futures up 3%
Yes, Trump had a good weekend. And my portfolio has had a good month. He got rid of Musk and looks like he has downsized Navarro. I encourage him to keep unfucking up the things he previously fucked up.

Fuuuuuuck, this guy's brain is mush. He doesn't have a logically consistent thought on anything. He frequently contradicts himself within a couple of sentence fragments.

Also, great job bringing all those manufacturing jobs back to the midwest or Tennessee, or wherever. That's why we nuked good faith trade relationships, right? But wait, now we're winning because Chinese products are only 10-30% more expensive than last year? Which is still 100-200% cheaper than if a US company makes them? What, exactly, did we win?

Not too hijack the thread too much, but isn't your post indicative of a huge problem in American politics, whether it's true or false. I mean, I think the US had nothing to do with India/Pakistan, don't know what you're talking about re: Russia/Ukraine, China trade pause is an admission of failure, and idk a hostage release.

But let's say you're right about all of them. Isn't this a bonkers way to do politics, rating presidential performance over an absurdly and arbitrarily short period of time? A good weekend is what we would say about golfers or baseball players. That anyone thinks to think about it politically seems nuts. It's what gives us a politics geared to winning the next news cycle.

Here's the thing: every single principled position you say you support, like deficit reduction, requires long term thinking. Without planning, deficit reduction becomes the DOGE chaos and usually gets paired with some tax handout that undoes any of the purported benefit. And you can't do planning when your political strategy is day to day news cycle grabbing. This is why the GOP was left exposed in 2017 on Obamacare. They had been chasing a car and had no idea what to do when catching it. It's why everything coming out of Trump this term is half baked garbage that in most cases doesn't even get implemented. Between voluntary rollbacks and judicial injunctions, what has Trump actually **done**?

Do you think there's a connection between your weekend-driven politics and the inability of the GOP to commit to any view of the future for more than a few news cycles? Ironically, the only people keeping the Trump administration on course, to the extent that it's on course, are the behind the scenes bureaucrats. Vought and Miller.

Obviously, the competent Boeing of a few years ago. Not the current Boeing whose equipment left two astronauts stranded in space only to be rescued by Space X.
Right, but there is a huge difference between a random 747 business jet (which is what Qatar has) and Air Force 1. The latter requires much more in the way of security and communications countermeasures that the Qatari aircraft does not have. The actual 747s that will be the new presidential transport aircraft rolled off of the assembly line years ago. It is all of the extra security components that are holding up completion of Air Force 1.

Rubio claims that he was very involved with India/Pakistan ceasefire deal: Elon Musk responds to Marco Rubio's India-Pakistan ceasefire post, gives 'one-word' reply

Yeah, he was on the phone with them. Both countries have the US on speed dial and it's one of their first calls in these situations.

That's not remotely like being involved in the ceasefire deal. I know you know this and are being sarcastic; it's worth making the point explicitly. The American government did not broker any deal because there was no deal to be brokered. This stuff happens along a contested border for some reason -- there are flareups, people shoot guns and missiles and then they remember why it was they were stalemated in the first place. So they cease fire for lack of any alternative. India/Pakistan has seen this many times; so too North/South Korea; and so on.

It's not that Rubio screwed up. It's not that anyone would have done better in the situation. It's just that it wasn't a US decision. If anyone on either side was crazy enough to escalate, the US telling them "you better not" would not deter them.

One of the problems with the two knew Boeing 747’s that will serve as Air Force Ones is that they were originally bought by someone other than the US Government. That entity cancelled the purchase.

Those two 747’s were repurposed to become Air Force Ones - which meant a shitload of renovation work.

The US Government would have been better served receiving two brand new 747 “shells.”
