CURRENT EVENTS - May 8-14

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary, posted photos on Sunday of himself and his grandchildren swimming in a contaminated Washington creek where swimming is not allowed because it is used for sewer runoff.

Rock Creek, which flows through much of Northwest Washington, is used to drain excess sewage and storm water during rainfall. The creek has widespread “fecal” contamination and high levels of bacteria, including E. coli, and the city has banned swimming in all of its waterwaysfor more than 50 years because of the widespread contamination of Rock Creek and other nearby rivers.

“Rock Creek has high levels of bacteria and other infectious pathogens that make swimming, wading, and other contact with the water a hazard to human (and pet) health,” the National Park Service wrote in an advisory on its website, adding “All District waterways are subject to a swim ban — this means wading, too!” …”

We can probably now add syphilis to the pathogens in Rock Creek.

That’s your answer?

Seriously…that’s your fucking answer?

You honestly believe that white South Africans are being exterminated by their government?
Interesting that trump stopped the asylum program for everyone other than white south Africans. He has also resended protective status for Afganies who actually helped the US. All while being the most inept president in terms of laws passes in his first 100 days.

Where's @ZenMode to talk about melanin obsession?

So Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia created 2 million American jobs? People actually believe this shit?

Honestly, good for all of these other countries, many of which have been long-standing foes or outright enemies of the United States, for figuring out that our enormous cuck of a president will roll over like a dog in heat and give them whatever they want if they’ll simply flatter his fragile little ego. In retrospect, we are damn lucky that George W. was POTUS after 9/11 and not Trump or we might have unconditionally surrendered on the spot.

Hey, board Pubs, what happened!? Did your balls completely shrivel up and fall off? Your guy is out here calling a fucking Al-Quaeda terrorist beautiful and attractive and y’all are curled up in the corner in the Jerry Falwell Jr. position!

Trump ignores some key details about Lady Liberty, including that Congress followed the Constitution and voted to accept the gift from France on behalf of the American people.

What is wrong with the chair Trump was given to sit in? Looks like his back side is sinking to the floor.

While the vast majority of Trump's Middle Eastern machinations are an assault on everything America has traditionally stood for (and against), this is the one possible silver lining I'm getting interested in. I do not think Trump will be able to create actual peace between Israel and all the factions in the region, so his embrace of SA, Qatar, UAE and ESPECIALLY Syria (which I really don't understand at this point) is highly likely to create friction with Israel. Which is a good thing in my mind, as long as it doesn't drive them into the hands of the Russians and the Chinese. Which is why all the OTHER foreign policy/trade policy crap Trump is doing is so freaking stupid and counterproductive.

What MAGA sees (a reminder that this was posted by the official White House account):

To be fair, what the left sees:

Anyway, in Saudi Arabia

“… Trump emphasized that the achievements of Saudi Arabia that he admires have nothing to do with democratic principles or ideas of freedom. Quite the opposite. He disparaged those who supported efforts at democratization and liberalization in the region—“the so-called nation builders, neocons, or liberal nonprofits.”

“It’s crucial,” he said, “for the wider world to know this great transformation has not come from Western intervention or . . . lectures on how to live and how to govern your own affairs.”

… More than two dozen American titans of business participated in a business lunch with bin Salman and Trump. They no doubt paid appropriate homage to the two autocrats, hoping to walk away, as Trump said, “with a lot of checks.” One doubts any of them uttered the words “freedom” or “democracy” or “consent of the governed.” One assumes none defended the importance of free speech or of dissent.

Dissent is not a thing in Saudi Arabia. Trump would of course like it not to be a thing in the United States of America.

We have an American president who regards the House of Saud not with disdain but with envy.”

I'm going to resist the urge to say many of the things I could say about this situation.
