It is difficult not to be extremely suspicious of al-Sharaa (aka Al-Jawlani) BUT the shifting sand of international politics often requires communications with former enemies and assorted unsavory characters.

The chance to stabilize Syria (and eliminate a Russian and Iranian foothold) is too valuable to pass up, I guess. But definitely a risky local partner.

The shutdown only magnified a general problem of not nearly enough ATCs. Firing a bunch of current controllers over this will only make things work. It takes YEARS to properly train an ATC, you can’t just recruit MAGA off the street like ICE is trying to do.

What $2,000 payment (Hassett implied this weekend that this “payment” is the value of the OBBB tax breaks on tips and overtime)???

45-50% of adults are middle class, 30-35% are working class or poor. There are about 265 million adults. Is he really saying he is going to make an out $400 Billion in cash payments from tariff income to about 200 million of them? At last report the Treasury had collected a little less than $200 Billion in tariffs so far this year.

The math don’t math. And even if it did, these are exactly the sorts of cash payments during COViD that Republicans blamed for the inflation spike (even though inflation happened worldwide, but whatever).

Also, of course, this is NOT money flowing in from foreign companies, it is paid by US importers and a substantial portion is passed along to American consumers.

I wonder if this is more about pressuring the SCOTUS tariff decision? See, if you overturn my tariffs, we can’t repay them and you are taking $2,000 out of the pockets of every middle class American!!! I have no idea.

Among the many, many other reasons this math don't math, tariff revenue has no chance of materially decreasing the $3.4 trillion that will be added to the debt over the next ten years because of the OBBB. Even "fiscal conservatives" like Ram and Pandemic know Trump is just another tax and spend swamp creature.
 
So Trump wants Obama arrested....
But if presidents can do whatever with immunity...how can Obama have done anything wrong?

Everyone should talk about trump sending $2k to every US citizen non-stop. Use his idiotic playbook against him. Rile people up and get them excited about it so when it doesn’t happen they’re pissed off.

I for one am excited my household of 4 is getting $8k. Going to be very beneficial. Maybe I can pay for half our new insurance premiums.
