I think their appearance might explain their insecurity and why they're 'punching down' on minorities. Bullies are always insecure.

There's no difference between this and when Republicans point out the supposed unattractiveness of feminists/liberal women and create a political point out of their looks.

We should be better than this.

Probably so. I'm fairly certain back on the old ZZLP, there was a "Why Are Republicans More Likely to Be Labelled as Racist?" thread, or something to that effect. And in it was a primo collection of stories, videos, and documentation of unabashed racism by growing-ever-more-emboldened conservatives/Pubs. Does anyone else recall that, perchance? My memory certainly isn't what it once was.

look, i'm not big on going after people's physical appearances or other things of that nature either but these people spew unconscionable vitriol and hate. the random libs/fems on tiktok that republicans go after are just cat ladies with blue hair who like socialism, they aren't young dem party leaders and they aren't spewing hate at anyone.

it is quite different.

He was pretty direct about viewing Columbus Day as being for Italians (which to be fair is how it was celebrated in NYC for years, as a sort of Italian American heritage day without a whole lot of bother about the voyage of Columbus or picky details who provided the ships, supplies, funds and most of the crew).

Then go after them for spewing unconscionable vitriol and hate and leave their looks out of it.

While I think there are limited situations where physical appearance is fair game, in general, it shouldn't be.

Go after folks for their beliefs, not the way they look. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy.

Not just NYC. Jersey too. I used to have an Italian co-worker who got big mad when the company took away Columbus Day as a paid holiday, while allowing "the Jews to have all their holidays" (I'm not sure he realized they were unpaid or personal days off). Guy was constantly talking smack about fucking immigrants. Then I found out he was born in Italy. Of course.
