Trump seeking ways to take over 9/11 memorial in NYC​



“… Since opening to the public in 2014, the memorial plaza and museum have been run by a public charity, now chaired by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a frequent Trump critic.

… The office noted the Republican pledged during his campaign last year to make the site a national monument, protected and maintained by the federal government.


But officials at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum say the federal government, under current laws, can’t unilaterally take over the site, which is located on land owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

… The takeover idea also comes just months after the Trump administration briefly cut, but then restored, staffing at a federal program that provides health benefits to people with illnesses that might be linked to toxic dust from the destroyed World Trade Center….”

I don't blame Trump. I blame the West Point alumni association. Just like I blame enlisted and veterans currently for not speaking up. I'm perilously close to giving up on a lifetime of veteran advocacy and donations because I'm sickened with them overall as a community right now. Bowing at the feet of a wanna-be dictator like Trump and abandoning the Constitution they swore to defend are too much for me.

It seems as if most Western nations are going through a wave of very powerful, very frightening nativism and xenophobia right now. Just an absolute fear and loathing of (mostly) darker-skinned immigrants by (mostly) white people in nation after nation. And it's eating away at the democratic institutions in nearly every one of these nations. Dark times for global democracy.

Result of 20+ years of Putin destabilizing the Mideast and Africa through support of religious extremists with the end goal of destabilizing centrist democracies. In the end the Soviet Union might win the Cold War.

Only after evangelicals sedated America with the opiate of religion. It's becoming harder for me to accept that any "Christian" that buys into evangelicalism really believes in either democracy or America. It's a sham like car wrap on a Cyber Truck.

vets are no diff than than the tens of millions other americans who have been con'd by the trump grift. i wont let myself give up on the vets who are against trump. i wont punish them because of the idiot magas.
