WTH? When I saw the headline, I expected to read about a bad grandpa putting something in the grandkids food to make them drowsy.

But Molly & Coke? And he reported it to police?

Apparently an attempted hoax of some sort against a Wilmington DQ (?) …

Surry elections official accused of spiking grandchildren's ice cream with narcotics

“…Yokeley, 66, flagged down a police office at the Sheetz gas station off Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington back on Aug. 8, police said. Police reported the arrest on Wednesday.

He told the officer his two young granddaughters found two hard objects in the ice cream they recently bought at the Dairy Queen on Oleander Drive.

… The pills tested positive for MDMA and cocaine, WRAL reported from an arrest warrant.

Police said video footage pointed to Yokeley as the one who placed the two pills into the ice cream. He has been charged with contaminating food or drink with a controlled substance and felony child abuse. He was transported to the New Hanover County Detention Center and posted a $100,000 secured bond.

Yokeley, a Republican representative on the Board of Elections, was named chairman in June by State Auditor Dave Boliek.“

Note that the only reason this clown even has the political job is the NC legislature stripped this power from the governor and gave it to their highest ranking available GOP executive branch officer (the State Auditor).

Trump lied about what Moore said, Moore calls him on it, Fox plays video to prove Trump lied and now at 2 am Trump declares Moore was being disrespectful to the “office of the president”

“… Most of the 37 people had either participated in intelligence assessments related to Russia’s attempt to influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election or had signed a 2019 letter calling for President Trump’s impeachment.

Gabbard didn’t know the CIA officer had been working undercover, according to a person familiar with the fallout from the list’s release. Three other people with knowledge of the situation said that Gabbard’s office didn’t meaningfully consult with the CIA before releasing the list.

Gabbard’s office delivered the list of 37 people to the CIA the evening before the list’s release, according to three people familiar with the communications and emails read to The Wall Street Journal.…”

Fuck that nonsense.

I know none of our board fascists will defend this, because it's indefensible, but I think the thing to do now is for those of us who still respect democracy and rule of law to just start ignoring, en masse, the notions of our aspiring dictators and any of his laws we don't like. He certainly behaves thus.
As it turns out, this is not what it appears to be. It IS an attempt to criminalize flag burning to incite a riot.

Robert Primus, a member of the Surface Transportation Board, says he will challenge the termination

“President Trump on Wednesday fired Robert Primus, a board member of the railroad regulator that is weighing the proposed megamerger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern.

Primus, a Democrat, was nominated by Trump to the Surface Transportation Board in 2020 and began serving in 2021. He was the only member of the board to oppose the merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern, a tie-up was approved by the regulator in 2023. At the time, Primus said the deal wasn’t in the public interest.

Primus said Wednesday that he planned to challenge the termination.

“This is deeply troubling and legally invalid,” Primus wrote in an email to The Wall Street Journal. He said he planned to continue his duties as a board member and that if he was prevented from doing so, he would seek legal options.…”

STB is a backwater outside the rail industry but this is another case of firing appointed members of quasi-independent regulatory agencies to exert control.
