Yea, 98% of mass shootings committed by white men and it's too soon to talk about it. 1 is committed by a trans person and all trans people are unstable and none of them should own a gun... makes no sense.

Add white men into the list of those who can't buy or own a gun and I'm sure the results would be better.

Did Zenmode propose this?

I wasn't aware of the Advance Act so thanks for posting. It hasn't received a lot of publicity.
Will you PLEASE, for the love of God, consider the possibility that Dems are trying EVERY DAY to enact laws that you think are reasonable, and the ONLY reason they're not being enacted is because of Mike Johnson and the legislators you voted for, who, for whatever reason, think we should remain locked in the Stone Age.

PLEASE!!! WAKE UP!!! You people are being deceived every single day.

I don't trust the Mayors' crime data. Whistleblowers, for example, have reported DC was grossly underreporting crimes. The "people" tend to agree as no one thinks crime in under control in most big cities. Plus, even if you accept the data, crime is coming down from the unprecedented heights it reached during COVID/Floyd. So, congratulations for that.

If Trump sends in NG it would be litigated as to whether his actions meet one of the exceptions to the PCA: (a) state's request (unlikely, given the political environment); (b) rioting and insurrections; (c) to enforce federal law; (d) to protect civil rights when states are unable/unwilling to do so.
So, it doesn't really matter what I think since the courts (likely SC) will decide whether his actions are legal and constitutional.

I still don't think Trump pulls the trigger. The success of the DC operation, together with Mayor Bowser's cooperation and acknowledgment of success, is placing pressure on Johnson - particularly with the Labor Day shootings.
The people typically dont understand or see things at the scale of a city or state. They watch the news and see crime, they believe that is the norm, they don't seem to understand that the news is an outliers and sensationalism.

So no I don't trust people who know their immediate surroundings regarding statistics for millions of people.

Except for the people who live in those big cities. We have lots of people on this board who either live or lived in NYC. None of us think that crime is out of control there. Not one, to my knowledge at least.
No one has mentioned NYC is currently a crime ridden city. Not one.

Interesting conundrum. This is obviously meant to punish trans people, but do the Democrats go with it with the hopes that the precedent has been set to ban people with, say, depression from owning guns once the Democrats regain control of Washington?

I never mentioned wind. I agree with Trump that it's not a viable energy option. Plus, it's a niche solution. Solar has value in certain parts of the country.

I literally just posted that we need to reach a bipartisan agreement on moving forward with nuclear (so as to transition away from coal).
Wind is most definitely a viable energy option. Trump’s opposition to wind power is an insane obsession.

This is probably old news, but interesting that people like Bernie and Elizabeth Warren actually favor some of the corporate accountability angles of Trump taking stakes in Intel, potentially that Nippon/Steel venture, the Nvidia sales to china, etc.

I'm all for the US taking control of the rare earth mining operations in the US since that stuff is "too big to let China" dominate, and maybe even critical components for defense. I understand that you're killing competition when the gov takes a stake in specific companies or tries to nationalize a company, but tighter ROI on things like subsidies would be nice. You don't want to stifle competition, but there should be some tangible reward for tax-payers when propping up industries or corporations.

And it is just so funny Bernie Sanders is like: good idea in principle!
