Hard to decide between the Current Events thread and the Autocracy one. They could almost be merged, as sad as that is.

I dunno. Everytime I go into a federal courthouse, there are fairly large pictures of the sitting President and Vice President, no matter who the party is. I've always though that it was a bit creepy and autocratic. Not sure why federal buildings need photographs of the President and Vice President. But if you can have photos at courthouses, not sure why you can't have banners on executive buildings.

By fairly large pictures are we talking several stories in size?

No, but large enough to be a bit disconcerting. Maybe 3 feet by 2 feet or something. Of course, size is relative to viewing distance.

I'm not sure constitutionality turns on size of portrait even though Schiff apparently thinks it is an open and shut constitutional case.

Those are relatively small pictures inside the building (they don’t take up much of the wall) vs. giant banners draped over the outside of a building. And the pictures inside those buildings have been a thing for a long time. The giant banners on the outside of the buildings haven’t been a thing at all until now.

I have a life size painting of myself hanging in my living room.

JFC, Trump calls Mamdani 'Liddle' Communist and threatens to withhold funding from NY state because the governor endorsed someone for NYC mayor. And folks like Zenmode and Ramrouser get their panties into a wad because they think that Trump is being unfairly persecuted by Democrats with 'dangerous' and 'violent' messaging. Trump deserves all the persecution he gets.

they don't get their panties in a wadd over anything. They say whatever it takes to get someone to quote or reference them. Thehypocrisy is th epoint as it gets folks to respond even harder.

It’s a nice, small waste of taxpayer money.

State offices have photographs of the Governor and maybe others.

Along highways, as one crosses into North Carolina, the sign mentions the Governor.

It’s stupid and a waste of money.

If it’s required by state law, that law needs changing.

If it’s a federal law for photos of POTUS, that law needs changing.

We don’t need photos of politicians in government buildings.

There were no such portraits at Prettyman when I was clerking.

Actually, I'm curious as to why MAGA thinks they way it does, so I don't ignore anyone. It's fascinating!
It's a bit like rubbernecking at a car crash.
