First thought I had is that the editor of this article probably should have helped develop the background section to better frame the absolute villain of this story, which is the military & government of Myanmar that is conducting a genocide against the Rohingya minority (under the direction of or at best without interference from Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi), forcing them to live in internment camps and rely on foreign aid for food.

AP also could point out that China, as the regional power, or any number of wealthy Muslim countries could choose to step into the yawning gap created by the destruction of USAID to help this Muslim minority and so far have shown no interest in doing so.

All that said, the internment camp outcome was negotiated by the UN/USA to alleviate a refugee / growing humanitarian crisis of Rohingya flooding into already desperate Bangladesh. So while none of the baseline crisis is the fault of the United States, the solution relied heavily on the United States providing the necessary food and medical assistance to keep hundreds of thousands of displaced people alive in barely tolerable circumstances. And now that the U.S. abruptly terminates that assistance, starvation is stalking these tormented people inside their internment camp.

So, all that said, this AP story a pretty tough read about the human impact of the sudden annihilation of USAID, as well as an indirect indictment of the cost of Trump’s demands that Allie’s spend far more on military defense (which is sapping potential resources from countries with far smaller military and foreign aid budgets).

As someone who still gambles occasionally, I’d like a $250 bill or even a $500 bill (like in Europe, although they are phasing it out) but there have always been fears of it being counterfeited and facilitating criminal activity.

Jesus Christ. So he's now claiming that he knew bin Laden was going to attack NYC and DC a year before it happened? The fact that anyone is still defending this guy continues to be a source of amazement.
No, he just said “watch bin Laden.” One year before 9/11 was the USS Cole bombing, which itself was two years after the Kenya and Tanzania embassy bombings. Everyone knew bin Laden was a problem, he wasn’t saying anything revelatory.
