Yeah, it just seems weird to steal those items to do that. At the end of the day, gold is gold. It doesn’t matter if it came from “priceless” items taken from the Louvre. But taking items from the louvre will draw a lot more attention than taking items from somewhere else. And what about situations where such heists involve works of art, like paintings? You can’t melt those down.

I assume painting thefts go into deep dark private collections in places that no one ever sees. I am guessing in this case it was the gems they were after.

But yeah people will do whatever to grab gold these days. I assume the Louvre would be hared to rob than a Zales, but what do i know? Paris seems to have a blind spot for these things when you consider the rhino killed in its zoo for its horn, or this robbery from last month.

You don't know many billionaires (nor really do I, but I believe I know how they think).

When you have more money than you will ever be able to use, it all just comes down to keeping score. Doesn't matter if anyone ever sees it, because it'all just a prop for their fragile egos. Whenever being the "bad guy" gets you down, you just go in your private vault and stare at Napoleon's crown or something.

Yeah, what billionaires do openly, proudly even, is reason enough to think any number of them willing to pay tens of millions to have some historic baubles to fawn over in the sub-basement vault room where they keep photo mementos of their time on Epstein’s island. And that’s just the Western billionaires. Throw in Russian, middle eastern and Asian billionaires and some would do it as a fuck you to France. Hell, I wouldn’t put it past Bibi and Mossad to do it as retaliation for recognizing Palestine.

That would make them some serious ingrates since France was the country that basically gave Israel the bomb which virtually made them untouchable by other ME powers.
