Just completely tossed his wife under the Christian bus.

It's funny to hear people talk about how respectful he is and how he tries to engage the other side. No he doesn't. Just because he doesn't rant with spittle foaming in the corners of his mouth like most of MAGA does not mean he is respectful. He says the same crap they say just with a softer voice. He does not respect other people. He lies continually.
Yeah, this is the fundamental problem with evangelicalism, whether it's Christian or Muslim or anything else. When one of your core beliefs is that you and your tribe are right with God and everyone else is not, and it's part of your divine purpose to bring those other people into rightness with God, there's no way to be "respectful" of those other people at a relational level. Your demeanor can be respectful. You can put on an attractive front. But there's just no way to reconcile genuine respectfulness with a core belief that you're right, others are wrong, and it's your spiritual obligation to make them right.

My issue with Vance is much more about his hypocrisy and his astonishing dishonesty than it is about his lack of respectfulness. But basic human respectfulness is an issue that goes way beyond Kirk or Vance. They're just articulating more publicly, with the imprimatur of the federal government behind them, what has been established doctrine in evangelical circles for decades.

I highly doubt that JD is going to run off with Erika Kirk (at least in public, we all know that traditional family values Republicans love to do lots of things in private they preach against in public), but on a serious note I do think that JD's wife is going to be a real obstacle to him winning the GOP nomination, given that she's not a Christian (she's Hindu) and is a brown-skinned daughter of immigrants. Look at what happened to Nikki Haley, and I don't think that MAGAs will be much more forgiving of having a non-Christian spouse as First Lady. I look for his wife to either miraculously "convert" to Christianity sometime before the end of 2027, or he will struggle with white Evangelical Republicans in the 2028 primaries, especially against GOP opponents who won't hesitate to use his wife's religion and ancestry against him.

Of course Trump may still run again and all of this will be moot.
My hunch is that she converts to Christianity before 2028.

Gaslighting, gaslighting, gaslighting.
For congressional Dems, this should be a 50 mph fastball right down the middle with Ohtani at the plate. But nobody in Dem leadership seems to be able to get attention, and when they do, they swing like a first grader starting tee ball. If they somehow let Trump blame Dems for the skyrocketing health insurance rates, we deserve more years in the desert.

Agree, what is wrong with the Dem leadership?
