Customer service varies so much from company to company. With AI answering systems, it seems that most companies are opting for the FU approach.

SO. When you get good customer service, it really feels good.

I have two utility companies that have excellent customer service.
First my gas company. I needed to renew, they actually have two numbers. One to speak to a person, one for those who enjoy the automated experience.
Today, I called. They looked up my account from my number. The representative offered me a lower rate than in the renewal notice and I get a free umbrella 😁. The entire process took about 3 minutes.

Second, my trash company. My trash company communicates via text. It's like texting with any friend. Once they didn't pick up my recyclables, I texted a picture and a message they texted back to leave the can at the street, and they would pick it up in the morning. They text if there is a delay or change in their service. And last week the card I have on file expired, they texted asking to update payment. I did, then texted back letting them know. It's great.

I really love customer service, therefore I'm not going to mention the customer service I have been receiving from progressive. 😎

Its a great post-subject. It is why I have stuck with nc State Employees Credit Union

After my dad passed USAA was the suck to deal with until we finally got one guy that was awesome, we got the money we were owed a month after talking with him. We had been talking with other reps 18 months.

Customer service is the biggest reason I stay with T-Mobile. I have never had a bad experience and they are likely to go above and beyond.

I've had USAA for over 30 years and they are pretty good. But there have been a few times I wanted to throttle someone.

Well here we are again with another example of great customer service. Actually two.

The funeral home where we took my father. They were so professional and they had everything mapped out. All cost were very clear, no games and they picked up the death certificates and helped with the insurance and other things for my mother.

Maybe this is normal, I don't know.

And today Amazon. I had ordered a Christmas present last week, today I noticed it was $150 off for cyber Monday. Called customer service and they refunded me the difference.

We are with T-mobile, just changed plans and got a new phone and a watch.

They are pretty straight forward. Not like Sprint. Sprint had a sneaky way to get people to pay on their phones indefinitely.

I don’t understand the concept of “renewing” your gas service.

Ah, propane. Never crossed my mind. In my 70 years and all the places I’ve lived, I have never lived anywhere with a septic system, well water, or a propane tank.

Ever since they deregulated in GA, we have to choose a middle man between us and the company that owns the gas lines. If you choose and agree to a longer contract the cost per therm is less.

So every two years I renew.

You have a choice of natural gas suppliers?
Yes. But it's not the greatest thing.

When it was regulated and we had one supplier, in the summer when gas usage was extremely low, the bill was normally around $10. Now, with no gas usage the bill is around $35.

They all have very similar base charges. They all still pay the company that owns the pipes. And the rate per therm is fairly similar when you agree to the contract. If you do not agree to a contract, the rate per therm doubles.
