In September, when I checked on-line with CVS about getting my Covid-19 and Flu vaccines, I was told that while they could give me the Flu vaccine, I would need a prescription for the Covid-19 shot. No problem. I just logged on the website for my primary care provider, made a request that the prescription be sent to my local CVS, and--almost immediately--received an affirmative response that the script had been sent. Within 30 minutes, when I checked the CVS app, they had received and processed the Covid 19 prescription and were ready for me. When I went in to get the shots, I received them, and when the pharmacist saw me, he profusely apologized for my having to jump through getting a script from my primary care provider hoop and added that would no longer be required as of the next day. I assured him it was not a problem and the effort on my part consisted of spending 30 seconds to compose a written message on my primary care provider's website. My pharmacist gave me one of those, "But you shouldn't have had to jump through that hoop even if it only took 30 seconds" looks.

Mind if I ask if you had any issues/reaction to the shot? Reason I ask…accompanied my almost 87 year old dad to his regular pulmonologist appt yesterday. He told my dad (diabetic, COPD, wears oxygen 24/7) that he wouldn’t recommend the Covid shot for him. Said he’s not anti-vax, and actually had the shot himself a month or so ago. However, said that he and others he has spoken to had pretty bad experiences and since my dad is home 99% of the time that he wouldn’t risk it. I was surprised obviously. My dad has been seeing this guy for 10+ years and first time he has recommended against the shot.
FWIW, my 85 year old mom had it about a week ago. She felt a little low-energy and had soreness at the injection site. Otherwise, she was fine. I think it's important for people like her to get it because getting sick at her age is much more dangerous than not feeling great after the shot.

Interesting. I’m older than some dirt . Had covid in left arm flu in right arm and wondered on way out if that was smart. Been two weeks and all is well. I’v been lucky with vaccines. But the two for shingles were the worst.

Now that I’m 50, my doctor recommended the shingles vaccine. I’ll get it soon. Heard it’s a doozy.

I am no doctor, but your father sounds like the person the shot is especially made for. Might want to seek some second opinions.
I got the covid shot a few weeks ago and had some pretty bad soreness and swelling of my arm for a couple of days, but it did go away. Given my age and health conditions I'll always get the covid and flu shots each year if I can. I would be foolish not to, imo.

I doubled up today myself. Went fine last year, so figured I’d just pull the trigger again.

I had no issues with the first shingles shot, and felt bad for one day after the second dose.
I got shingles when I was at NSA Souda Bay. It's not fun. So, last year I got the two series of shingles shots. First one did nothing. Second one staggered me for a day.

A number of years ago during my annual physical, I asked my doctor if I should get the Shingles vaccine. I told him that I had never gotten chicken pox as a child. Then I added that I was the youngest of seven children and the oldest six all had chicken pox at the same time, but I didn't get it. The doctor looked at me like I was the stupidist person on the face of Earth and said, "(05C40), if you were in a house where your six older siblings all simultaneously had chicken pox, that means you had a mild case of chicken pox and your mother just didn't have time to fool with you. I'm giving you the Shingles vaccine today."

Got the Covid vaccine yesterday.

Never got the shingles vaccine. Had planned to but ended up not being able to get it because it was too close to the time my immune system would be suppressed. Ended up getting shingles before I could get the vaccine. Decided not to get the vaccine since the chances of getting shingles a second time isn't appreciably different from getting shingles after the vaccine.

Sincere best wishes on the shingles vaccine. I took it two years ago and it's the only vaccine to which I've had a reaction, and I think I've had a total of six COVID shots. The symptoms from the first shot were the same as the second - I had chills and a fever and felt like crap the following day, but it resolved around dinnertime.

Guys. Shingles stinks badly can last for months
Get the vaccine . If you are older get the double super dooper one
