Dave's Hot Chicken

yeah people are having a hard time giving away kittens on Marketplace
I read a paper where someone actually looked into the idea of eating cats. The conclusion was that based on the actual meat on a cat it was cheaper to use chicken.
Some of the variables were labor cost for processing and availability. 😁

I've stopped eating out for lunch. Everywhere is just too expensive... it's even more expensive to try and eat healthy. I'm really trying to watch what I eat lately and salads from these places are ridiculous. You'd think this lettuce was grown in the Garden of Eden.

Never heard of them.

But in a market saturated with chicken restaurants do we really need more?

There are so many near me and they are all the same basic thing.

Zaxbys, chicken fil a, Guthrie's, Churches, Popeyes, Bojangles (at least they are more unique), etc.

I believe that a Raising Cane's is opening soon near me.

I said the same thing when Slim Chickens came to town. If you throw in all the wing places like BWW, Wing Stop, East Coast Wings, etc... there are plenty of spots to get your cluck on.

Yeah, even the small premade salads are getting expensive. Not as bad as fast food places, but still pretty expensive. I love the salad bar at Harris Teeter, but that's not cheap, either.

Yea, but a name like Slim Chickens....

Speaking of chicken, I'm about to go on a diet of just eggs and grilled chicken for breakfast and lunch to try to lose weight, and save money from not going out for lunch. Anyone know of a good brand of frozen pre-cooked grilled chicken that you can just heat up?

I used to really enjoy KoKyu Na'Mean chicken sandwiches in the RTP area but have not been in some time.

Haven't found one. My Wife cooks chicken breast in the air fryer and packages it for the week because I take a salad to work everyday for lunch.

Wait you're going to try and save money buying eggs? 😁

Good luck.

I would recommend that you grill your own chicken. Precooked frozen is overpriced.

Eggs aren't too bad if you get them in bulk from Sam's. And I don't have the time to grill chicken for lunch.

While I do agree, the egg thing was a joke. 😁

I get mine at Costco and I honestly pay no attention to the price.

Do you happen to have a smoker?

Grill then place in the fridge and/or freezer

Remove and pack for lunch. Profit
Yea, that's what I meant. Grill a lot on Sunday and freeze it or use it during the week.

I often smoke 5 or 6 chicken breast and do this. It's easy on the smoker, just set it for 200-225 and set the timer for an hour.

Chipotle, Ancho, Guajillo, New Mexican chilis and cumin marinated chicken and skirt steak. Grilled fajita style with peppers and onions. Slice meat into thin strips. Serve for days with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomato, lettuce, salsa, black olives.

When I lived in SF in the 90's, some of my fellow Southern expats wanted to have an eastern NC barbecue. I had only been there a few weeks. I called some restaurant that I thought might have hushpuppies but they didn't know what I was talking about. It was a black guy I was talking to and it took some explaining to get him to understand what I meant by hushpuppy. When he finally did, he suggested I call Treacherous Chicken. I was delighted. What a great name for a chicken restaurant. But just to make sure I heard him correctly, I repeated it several times (to the delight of my friends who were listening to the whole conversation) and each time he confirmed it. Well, it turns out he was saying Church's Chicken, but my friends and I still call it Treacherous Chicken to this day...
