Dick Cheney has passed

I'm glad that he didn't fall in line with the rest of his party with endorsing and supporting Drumpf, and that he actively spoke out against him in recent times.

I miss the days when we thought he was the worst person in the world (of politics).

RIP

I don't think he ever deserves forgiving for being one of the leading architects of the totally unnecessary Iraq War disaster that killed so many and left so many others maimed for life, and he always struck me as an arrogant prick, but as was said earlier I will give him credit for being willing to speak out against Dear Leader like his daughter, and unlike so many others in his party. Other than that I simply can't find much good to say about him.

And I'll also say that I agree with the sentiment that compared to Trump and the people he's appointed to serve in his administration Cheney wouldn't even make the Top 10 horribles list. Which really says it all about where we are as a country right now, because Cheney was terrible, imo.

I would have thought he was a little older than 84, TBH.
I was totally surprised by his age. He seemed old when he first ran for VP 25 years ago. Yet he wasn’t even 60 on the day he became VP. As of Election Day last year, Kamala Harris was actually older than Dick Cheney was on the day he became VP.

Crazy to think how old most of our recent presidential candidates have been when you consider their ages relative to Cheney’s age.

One of the worst people who has ever lived, and I will never let any distractions from the current insanity obscure this fact.

Cheney was the true founder (the driving force behind a shadow group of Neocons) of the outrageously bogus and horribly counterproductive Iraq War, which cost 4,492 American lives, 33,000 Americans wounded (many with extreme severity, including many traumatic brain injuries), ended up taking more than one million Iraqi lives, including many hundreds of thousands of civilians, then also causing two million Iraqis to be displaced from their homes, two to four trillion dollars wasted, fostered an actual three-way civil war inside Iraq, eventually empowering Shiites allied with the worst elements in Iran, Iraq then transforming into a giant stage for the expansion of al Qaeda to kill more Americans and advance their terror outside the region, then the war was the foundation and empowerment of the new terrorist group ISIS.

All of this starting off with a planned and deliberate diversion away from the hunt for the actual author of 9/11, Osama bin Laden (a task completed by the Obama administration). Among the given knowledge of the day that the Iraq War was from its inception pointless: the United Nations weapons inspectors had been visiting Iraq for years, already verifying it had no nuclear weapon capabilities. It's often forgotten that both Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice said of Saddam, in early 2001, that he is not only not a threat to the United States, at that point his regime was not even a threat to his neighbors in the region.

Good riddance.
Cheney and his ilk helped pave the way for Trump.
Not a man that I agreed with politically, but he was also one of the few voices on the right who actively spoke out against Trump. It's interesting to me that most of Trump's right leaning critics who have held political office have been near death and, therefore, have had less to lose.

While we didn’t agree on much, he believed, as I do, that family is the beginning, middle, and end. Jill and I send our love to his wife Lynne, their daughters Liz and Mary, and all of their grandchildren.
