Hey everyone! Our first anniversary was probably the better time to ask this but I didn't want to spoil the festivities. Through your generous donations when we first started this community, and some help along the way, we've managed to stay afloat and have this spiffy forum for everyone to enjoy as a result.

Given the start of our second year, some add-ons and behind the scenes stuff will require a renewal for their yearly fee. But, the bigger cost is hosting. Despite the size of our community putting us at a higher tier, I've managed to talk XenForo (our hosts) into giving us the next year at a lower cost provided we pay upfront. That cost being $648 for the year. (see below if you're interested)

I'm terrible at asking for money and we've always striven to be ad free (because ads are just the worst) but hopefully this little plea for help will buy us the year and we won't have to worry about it until August 2026! A donation will get you a snazzy ZZL Supporter badge and our eternal gratitude. Also, due to reasons, I have access to some pretty neat UNC apparel, Jordans, things of that nature. I could also probably pull off an autographed item from Coach Bill Belichick or Coach Hubert Davis or tickets to a game or something like that. So, I will randomly pick someone who donates (or a handful of people) and communicate with that person to see if there's anything in particular they might want and go from there. If you're not a UNC fan, well.. we'll work with you!

Our community wouldn't exist without your support so donation or not, we'd like to thank you for helping make this place what it is and look forward to another year of stimulating discussion and the expansion of our collective knowledge. And a few hijinks here and there!

Great question.

To clarify, your anonymity is guaranteed. Always and forever.

That said, I understand you may have a variety of reasons to want to ensure you remain anonymous. While I look into this further, I know one way you could remain anonymous is by simply sending an Amazon gift card to zzlpolitics@gmail.com here: Amazon.com

When it asks for your name and says required, you can simply write your username here (so I know who it came from!) or anything else. It does not link it to your account or any other personally identifiable information.

Thanks for highlighting a concern and we will further look into this for the future.
 
You Rock Rock. I have donated $100 just now . I can't go $648 a year-or $48 a mth , just looking at what I purchase elsewhere.
If that amount drops me I will consider the $100 money well spent

I’m not certain but I don’t believe Bill Gates is hanging around our forum. That said, I think his technical proficiency might allow him to remain anonymous. Bill, if you’re reading this, any support would be appreciated!
 
I am more than willing, nay wanting, to cover the $648 and a bit more, but I am an unfrozen unfrozen caveman lawyer. Your cell phones, clouds, and venmos frighten and confuse me. I write paper checks and send them through your less confusing "snail" mail system. I have learned to pay using your small plastic card which has Visa printed on it which magically sends my money to various organizations.

Is there a way to allow me to send you a donation using a paper check or a credit card ?

I am in fact, currently in my mom’s basement lol (because I’m working from home and our kitchen is currently getting demolished).

However, I donated $54 to cover a month of hosting. I’m much more well informed due to this forum and appreciate everyone’s (well… mostly everyone’s) contributions. Money well spent IMO.

Using your credit card, you could purchase an Amazon gift card and send it to zzlpolitics@gmail.com and where it says “put your name (required)” just enter your username here. I can convert that into cash money to add to the fund.

I have sent an additional donation via Zelle to celebrate our anniversary. I decided back when this thing started and the call for financial support first went out that I should provide the same level of support that I paid to IC. I cared nothing for their “insider” info and the sports boards were cesspools of negativity. I was in IC for the ZZL (back before they split the boards and then banned politics…even though there was plenty of political commentary on the ZZL after politics was banished.)

Anyway, I enjoy this board and I’m happy to support it accordingly. My wife subscribes to Paramount+ anyway, although I have about as much interest in that as I had in the free football board.

Rock, I appreciate what you do here. Thank you for your service.

If only I could provide a streaming service as an incentive! I’m pretty good at finding those illegal internet streams for random spectacle boxing matches and blacked out NFL games so perhaps that’s an alternative!

I sent you an email and await your response (y)

Sending a check makes it simple for me so send me an email response letting me know how to make it out, where to mail it, and for how much would cover you and give you a cushion.

I read about checks in history class.

They're those things people used to have to wait on the person in front of them, at the grocery store check out, to write. :D :cool: :D

J/k of course, I'm old enough to have had to write a few checks.

I, too, am a caveman lawyer. I love the feel of parchment under my quill pen. Better DM me the particulars for sending a check. Thanks again for what you do, Rock.

P.S. - Now that there's soon to be no more PBS/NPR, I can now more thoroughly enjoy ZZL pledge drives!
 
Can’t thank you all enough for the support. We are overwhelmed at the generosity.

I am substitute teaching today so will be off here for a handful of hours but will get back to everyone ASAP this afternoon.
