It started in the sports world in 2011 with Denard Robinson & Michigan Football.

It was adapted from Lil B's 2010 "Cooking Dance".

Point differentials of a single game are a fairly poor way of evaluating teams

I’d be willing to bet ETSU wins more games than both Navy and Upstate

AND finishes the season considerably higher in the metrics
Guess you are a metrics over results sort of handicapper. All I care about, other than the Heels winning, is who covers. Navy and Upstate covered, ETSU did not. I really don't care where all those teams finish in the metrics. Some of you had me worried that ETSU would keep it in single digits. But I agreed with what donbosco poasted about the spread, so that Heels laying 16 was a bit of a bargain. Turned out, UNC could have easily won by 30 and Hubert pulled the starters with over four minutes left to go (K and Scheyer would never do that BTW) and still covered. ETSU has beaten up on the likes of Converse and Tusculum so far while dropping games to Presbyterian and Austin Peay. Maybe they are better than Navy and Upstate, but would not say that they are A LOT better.
Looking to Saturday, I do hope to get your take about UNC and OSU. No spreads available yet but think Heels will be favored by about -7, if not more. Going forward, until Trimble gets back into playing shape, Evans does seem to be the X factor for UNC.

Doesn’t appear that Coach Davis has been prepping Stevenson to take minutes as back up to Veesaar.

That certainly reopens the conversation over who drops minutes when Trimble returns.

I love Jarin on D. I’d drop Luka.

I guess he is going to depend on High and Brown.

Yeah, what happened to Bogovac? Off-night? Lineup changes? It wasn't only his PT. He was invisible in the box score.
Perhaps he had just found out that Seth is coming back this Saturday and that his (Luka’s) new job is coming off the bench. Messed with his head. Perhaps.

Metrics determine the number so you also care about them. Would you have played UNC -27 vs ETSU? Probably not

I’m not posting about how good a team is in the context of “will they cover”. I mean, that is baked into the number to start. Saying ETSU is a lot better than Navy/Upstate is only to say a better game/effort was needed from UNC than what they showed vs other opponents

The number matters but so do matchups and situational factors. I would have been on the side of UNC -16 coming off a down performance and prior to an important game on Saturday. Just not the type of game you sleep walk through, although it sort of looked like it for a while

Turned out, UNC could have easily won by 30 and Hubert pulled the starters with over four minutes left to go (K and Scheyer would never do that BTW) and still covered. So your issue is with the words "a lot"? We can agree to disagree on exactly what that means or if it's true. To me those are matchups ETSU is winning upwards of 65% of the time and would mean they’re a lot better

It's hard to get past OSU barely beating ND and losing to Pitt. But they have been playing better lately. They pushed a pretty good Illinois team and took 2 OTs to beat a meh WVU

Thornton is obviously a big matchup problem without Seth. Will be the best scorer of his size UNC has seen this season and interesting to see the defensive approach

OSU has some bigs but they’re not great defenders and shouldn’t be much of a problem offensively. Feels like a game UNC wins unless more than a few things go wrong
