But is anything in the universe truly random? Universal causation would suggest not.

But none of these philosophical questions should be determinative of Elon's stupid argument about the lottery.
I think this argument has been, for a page or two, more philosophical than anything connected to the law, and that's OK.

In fairness to the other poster, science is full of terms describing idealizations that don't exist. Nothing in the universe is at absolute zero. That doesn't mean the concept is meaningless. I just think it's weird for us to assume that ordinary language should work that way. I mean, there zero is being used metaphorically.

Of course the term "random" in common parlance is not absolute, but rather relative. The difference between how I would use the term in common parlance and you want to use the term in common parlance is that I am using it in a sense that is directionally closer to the true meaning and you want to use it in a sense that is directionally farther from it's true meaning. If this were a court of law, I would tell the judge that my usage is the more correct usage than your usage and I should win! :p

At some point the Elon Trump bromance is going to blow up. And it will be fucking wonderful.

There is no way in Hell these two will coexist for long now that the public adoration phase is over.
We'll see. I'm not counting on it happening any time soon; IMO it won't happen unless and until things start to go really wrong. I hope that happens quickly, because the Trump admin quickly and publicly breaking things that work is our best realistic shot out of all of this. But it might not.

Over/under one year?
Hard to know, but we're talking about two people with the smallest attention span: responsibilities ratio in the history of American politics.

Chances seem high to me that they will just drift apart. DOGE is just a joke anyway, as Elon seems to be admitting when asking for unpaid volunteers to work 80 hour weeks. It's a bunch of performative bullshit; they'll stick with it for a couple of months, and then it will be gone.

Like the Kolbach election integrity commission?

What, from the last decade of "performative" bullshit by Elon Musk and 40+ years of it from Donald Trump, makes you believe that it will be gone in a couple of months?

I think it happens as soon as Bezos gets an inside track to the graft well. Never forget, Musk has negative social skills, high impulsivity, and a god complex. That’s a combustible mix with ttump’s ignorant, sociopathic narcissism. Bezos looks to share the god complex but replaces the other two characteristics with ruthless cunning.

Not the performative bullshit in toto. I just mean they will find new shiny objects.

IMO, the same thing will happen with Trump and RFK, Jr. From what I've read he is also an egomaniac and narcissist just like Trump with just as many scandals in his past. I think they'll eventually clash as well.

Hint hint

Though reports are that people have seen way more of Melania at MAL, where she is a frequent dining companion of Musk.

So magas hated ev's and now they love them because musk blows trump?

Dems loved teslas now hate them because musk blows trump?

Hmmm

Don't know about everybody but my son went from looking at Teslas three years ago to calling him an evil super villain 6 months later and bemoaning the fact that his best options for his solar system was Tesla batteries. Being a pragmatic type, he bought the batteries and ditched the car idea. Musk's bromance with Trump wasn't obvious at the time so I think Musk earned much of the contempt on his own.

Can I ask a really important question on this thread? Why, when talking about the move from X to Bluesky, are we not calling it “The Xodus?” Thanks. I’ll hang up and listen.
I dont understand the move to Blue Sky. It's run by Jack, no? The same guy that let twitter get out of control and then turned it over to fucking Elon?
