The EPA is requiring all lead pipes in the United States to be replaced within 10 years. That's going to be a massive undertaking. Most of them are obviously under streets, sidewalks and other infrastructure and many are in communities that will have a hard time affording the upgrade. Biden was able to get $10 billion approved through Congress to help the states but it's going to take a lot more.
It's the right thing to do but I don't see any way in the world this is going to get done in a decade. Not even close.

Seriously-I assume some trump judges will say it is an overreach and SCOTUS will say-well we won't weigh in

I mean maybe but this isn't like some rancher or factory dumping something near his river that is going to be downstream and never have to worry about it. Everybody drinks water and the vast, vast majority of people drink it from the tap. This might be a lot more bipartisan than you think if we can make sure that both parties get the credit.

Trump Admin dismantles government green and climate change policies:

GIFT LINK 🎁 —> ‘Full on Fight Club’: How Trump Is Crushing U.S. Climate Policy

President Trump has quickly transformed America’s approach to the environment, withholding funds and stretching the limits of presidential power.

“…On Inauguration Day, Mr. Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris climate agreement, making it the only nation to walk away.

Mr. Trump has frozen funds appropriated by Congress for clean energy projects, taking particular aim at wind energy, the country’s largest source of renewable power. He has stopped approvals for wind farms on public land and in federal waters and has threatened to block projects on private land.

He has fired thousands of federal workers, dismantled programs aimed at helping polluted communities and scrubbed references to climate change from numerous federal websites.

He has waged a multipronged assault at regulations designed to curb pollution, immediately sweeping some rules to the side and circumventing the normally lengthy rule-making processes. At the same time, Mr. Trump has declared an energy emergency, giving himself the authority to fast-track the construction of oil and gas projects as he works to stoke supply as well as demand for fossil fuels.

“We’re going to drill, baby, drill and do all of the things that we wanted to,” Mr. Trump said just hours after being sworn in for his second term.

The United States is producing more oil than any other nation in history, and is also the world’s biggest exporter of natural gas. The fossil fuel industry donated more than $75 million to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign and Mr. Trump, in turn, promised to weaken environmental regulations in ways that would lower its costs and increase its margins. …”

FUCK TRUMP AND EVERYONE THAT VOTED FOR HIM.

EPA head says he’ll roll back dozens of environmental regulations, including rules on climate change

“…“We are driving a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion and ushering in America’s Golden Age,’' EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said in an essay in The Wall Street Journal.

… In all, Zeldin said he is rolling back 31 environmental rules, including a scientific finding that has long been the central basis for U.S. action against climate change.

Zeldin said he and President Donald Trump support rewriting the agency’s 2009 finding that planet-warming greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare. The Obama-era determination under the Clean Air Act is the legal underpinning of a host of climate regulations for motor vehicles, power plants and other pollution sources.

Environmentalists and climate scientists call the endangerment finding a bedrock of U.S. law and say any attempt to undo it will have little chance of success.

… In a related action, Zeldin said EPA will rewrite a rule restricting air pollution from fossil-fuel fired power plants and a separate measure restricting emissions from cars and trucks. Zeldin and the Republican president incorrectly label the car rule as an electric vehicle “mandate.’'

The EPA also will take aim at rules restricting industrial pollution of mercury and other air toxins, soot pollution and a “good neighbor” rule intended to restrict smokestack emissions that burden downwind areas with smog. The EPA also targeted a clean water law that provides federal protections for rivers, streams and wetlands. …”

Well, Americans don't care for much of anything
Land and water the least
And animal life is low on the totem pole
With human life not worth more than infected yeast
Americans don't care too much for beauty
They'll shit in a river, dump battery acid in a stream
They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach
Complain if they can't swim
They say things are done for the majority
Don't believe the half of what you see and none of what you hear
It's like what my painter friend Donald said to me
"Stick a fork in their ass and turn 'em over, they're done"

I mean why not were heading to the 18th century in every other aspect.

From the Times article:

"But beyond that, Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, reframed the purpose of the E.P.A. In a two-minute-and-18-second video posted to X, Mr. Zeldin boasted about the changes and said his agency’s mission is to “lower the cost of buying a car, heating a home and running a business.”"

That is one of the most shocking things I've ever heard from an administrator. The entire point of the EPA was to ensure that people would stop thinking about public policy that way.

And in some of the other decrees, he's basically coming out as pro-pollution. That, I think, is the environmental equivalent to being pro-Putin, so it fits, one supposes. But seriously -- what do these psychopaths have against clean air?

Not that you need me to state, but in stating for myself it would seem a miasma of:
1. Genuinely bought off
2. Massive conflict of interest
3. Anti social traits combined with caste system tendencies
4. Accelerationism
5. Having repeated a rhetorical cudgel so many times you believe it
6. Truly deluded by mis/dis
7. Own the libs

In Zeldin’s case, I assume bought +anti-social +own the libs.

Their dumbass base doesn’t believe we have any effect on the environment and even if we do Jesus is coming soon so who cares. And science is fake.
