Gee, I wonder how they got him to cave to the Trump admin, lol.
But this is a very weird dynamic, because Leon Black was one of Epstein's biggest clients and gave him like 150 million over the years. That was personal, not business IIRC but it's still bizarre that Leon was hanging with the guy his company was suing.
And if Leon actually told Epstein to ask his lawyer for the information, I'm not even sure what the ethics would be. Obviously at a minimum Karp would have needed to get Leon's approval, but the whole situation is fucked. There is no way that Leon didn't know Karp was involved with Epstein, given how deep Leon was, so he intentionally chose an attorney he knew to have a conflict. Then he triangulated his attorney in this weird relationship. I mean, there are a lot of WTAFs in this story.
Anyway you're right and I'm guessing there are a lot of Paul Weiss partners asking the same question with a few more letters added in there.
I am wondering if I should have a newfound respect for Epstein -- I mean, the guy built an unreal network and somehow had svengali like powers over important people. He was DEFINITELY the most successful pimp in human history
