“House Republicans tried but failed to pass a resolution Tuesday to censure and strip a key committee assignment from Del. Stacey Plaskett (D), the nonvoting delegate representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, for texting with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 congressional hearing.

… The resolution to censure Plaskett fell short during a late-night vote, 214-209. Three Republicans voted present, and all Democrats present voted against it.

… Earlier Tuesday, an effort by Democrats to instead refer the resolution to the House Ethics Committee narrowly failed on a 214-213 vote….”

No, just that Epstein was aligned with Dems - celebrities, businessmen and politicians. That’s why Biden Admin didn’t release files.
K. It couldn't have been the ongoing Maxwell appeal.

Don't worry. Trump's fake investigations will be used to leverage sealing the documents again.

That's nonsense. Child predators don't come with a tattoo on their foreheads. If you have ever hung out with someone who later turned out to be a pedo, would you go about ending yourself?
He resigned because his email communications were after Epstein was found guilty.
In other words, he 100% knew that Epstein trafficked and raped underaged girls and continued a friendly relationship for many years afterwards.

Are you actually trying to say that the people that hung around with Epstein were unaware of his proclivities?
Very possibly. Certainly some of them. Because you know. People that are sexual predators don't have tattoos on their foreheads.

I'm assuming because you didn't answer the question that you hung out with someone that you later found out was a sexual predator?

You mean other than your mom?

The Jeffrey Epstein "secret" was the worst-kept secret in politics/elite society. I'm sure the majority of the regular visitors and close friends in his circle were aware of it, and there were a number of them who still hung out with him after his original arrest in 2006.

So why haven't you ended your membership in the human race?

Are we still talking about Larry Summers?

I have GT blocked, so I don't have all the context, but I'm assuming the "secret" in question here is this wonderful secret?

Did I guess right?

But more seriously, assuming you want a serious discussion, I would kind of struggle with that. Epstein was convicted of two felonies and served his time. Yes, I know it was a sweetheart deal and I certainly don't agree with it but leave it aside for now.

So if a guy is convicted of having sex with a 16 year old and serves his time, is he a pariah for the rest of his life? He's on the sex offender registry so in some ways yes but I'm not sure shunning them for the rest of their life is really right.

Now if an email pops up and Summers says something like "fun hanging out with you last weekend. Can I get that young girl's number?" Then he should go down hard. But if there's no proof Summers really knew anything, I don't think that forfeits membership in the human race or anything close to that.

"...Chuck Schumer rushed it to the floor and put it out there preemptively..."

TIL:That Chuck Schumer is the president of the senate.

You can tell Johnson is lying because his lips are moving.
Schumer did successfully pull a procedural maneuver that (somewhat surprisingly) caused the Senate to vote on the House version.

Background (wherein Thune originally expected to defeat the maneuver):

“… Mr. Schumer’s swift move to call for the House-passed bill’s immediate passage effectively dared any Republican to object and go on the record against it. None did.…”

Imo, if he or she gets a sweetheart deal and pays a shoplifter's penalty for armed robbery, I'm morally entitled to treat them as an armed robber, especially if they are snickering to themselves about it.
