It seems some of the MAGA response is that this is just some embarrassing stuff, nothing actually provable. It's crazy. Trump was friends for years with this disgusting scum. That's not just embarrassing.
Once upon a time, Pubs claimed character matters. We all knew that was bullshit, but I guess I didn't think they would stoop this low. Ah, who am I kidding? I knew they would.

It seems for Pubs the only really important thing is hating on the "other." Trump gets rid of brown people? Yay - they support that fully.

But replace Trump with any Democrat and their morals and values would suddenly change. It’s disgusting and there is no hiding from it.

There are more charitable readings but they are likely less plausible in this context.
Agreed. It might have been a “time to chat or talk business” and the email sender simply didn’t want to get sidetracked by a narcissistic buffoon. But it’s interesting that this was 11 months after Trump was inaugurated, 8 months after Alex Acosta was confirmed as Labor Secretary, and just 18 months before Epstein’s arrest/death and the sender was concerned, for whatever reason, that Trump would be at Epstein’s place.

Will believe it when I see it, but I thought this was an interesting section from HCR's recap of yesterday's events:

Faith Wardwell and Meredith Lee Hill of Politico reported this evening that senior Republicans believe as many as 100 Republicans will support the bill when it comes to the floor. Many of them are facing constituents who voted for Trump in the belief that he would release the Epstein files as he promised and who are angry that the administration appears to be covering them up in the service of rich elites. Others likely recognize that they do not want to be seen as participating in that coverup, especially with the threat of even worse material waiting to drop.

If the House passes the bill, it will go to the Senate and, if the Senate passes it, to Trump for his signature. If he vetoes it, Congress has the option to override his veto.

In the past, Trump has managed to avoid accountability for his actions by using lawsuits to delay while whipping up his supporters to take his side against what he called “witch hunts” or “hoaxes.” Republican lawmakers went along in part because they didn’t want to alienate his base.

Now, though, a significant portion of MAGA has broken with him, his popularity is low—a new Associated Press–NORC poll has his approval rating at 33%— and last week’s elections showed his coalition is abandoning him. It is not clear that Republican senators will defend him, especially since his erratic behavior—like bulldozing the East Wing of the White House—appears to be increasing.

As Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY), who backed the House discharge petition, told CNN: “This vote is going to be on your record for longer than Trump is going to be president. And what are you going to do in 2028 and 2030 when you’re in a debate…and they say, ‘How can we trust you? You covered up for a pedophile back in 2025.’”

Midday today, as new revelations from the Epstein documents were hitting social media every few minutes, Representative Swalwell posted: “This is the beginning of the end.”

CStock market at 48,200 - where are all of you in April who said the Trump tariff policy would tank the economy? Bueller?

Winning.

Just smoke. Trump haters will interpret the emails as proof of guilt. MAGA will ignore them. The rest of the country won’t care. I think all of Palm Beach/Manhattan society is tarnished by Epstein as it’s pretty clear everyone knew generally what was going on and simply looked the other way.

Dems trying to change the subject from the reopening of the government when they got NOTHING in return - what a waste. Shutting down the government as a political strategy needs to be buried once and for all.
Says the vile, pedophile-supporting shitstain in the room. Read: YOU SUPPORT PEDOPHILIA. OWN IT.

+1. The stock market long ago stopped being an accurate barometer of the health of the national economy. Decades ago it used to be, but it's now quite possible to have economic suffering and still have a healthy stock market, at least for a good while. Bragging that the stock market is doing well while people are struggling to find jobs (I know some that were let go from jobs after DOGE cuts that have been looking hard for months with no success), the number of homeless is increasing, the price of many items such as groceries steadily keep rising and so on, is foolish and myopic.
This. Ram actually thinking hardworking people living paycheck to paycheck give two shits about stocks says everything about the trump administration's priorities.

I am sure maga nation right now: "Man I can't believe Epstein put all this false shit in his email knowing that after he killed himself, the Democrats would ignore the power they had for two whole years under Biden when they had control of House and Senate and the White House THEN wait till trump was re-elected to subpoena his estate and spring the trap!"
