There are 220 Republicans in the House of Representatives. Undoubtedly, of that 220, there are probably a handful of certified actual freaks. But the majority of them probably aren't. They're gutless, cowardly, unscrupulous, etc. whatever adjective you want to use, but they probably aren't freaks. It's really difficult for me to imagine that, growing up as kids and as young adults with dreams or ambitions of serving the country, they'd ever imagine that they'd fund themselves completely castrated and humiliated, having to run interference at all times for a grotesque, fat, makeup-caked, diaper-wearing failed real estate shyster from New York who had a particular penchant for banging underage women with his BFF who was the most prominent international child sex trafficker in the world.

She tends toward definitive (if often false) declarations, so notable when Leavitt employs this sort of dodgy response.

If they really cared about serving the country, though, then they wouldn't support Trump. They are just trying to do whatever they think can keep them in power. They don't care about what is best for the country.

I read the entire interview transcript, and this Pivar guy is one sick puppy himself. He must have realized he screwed up by talking to this reporter, because by the end of the interview he kept saying over and over that he never should have given the interview, implied a financial offer to the reporter to never post the interview (to which the reporter refused) and then threatened to sue the reporter if he "misquoted" him or inaccurately described his statements. The guy comes across as a loon and adamant defender of his buddy Epstein and some others in Epstein's orbit, like Alan Dershowitz. And much of what he says is contradictory about Epstein - in one segment he defends Epstein and in another he admits that Epstein did terrible things.

Some things that I think stood out in the interview was:

1) Pivar claims that Epstein was "brilliant" and did great things for science, but when pressed he can't name a single specific thing that Epstein did other than hold dinner parties and fundraisers for science and prominent scientists. He also undermines his claim that Epstein was "brilliant" by saying that he didn't know a damn thing ("Shit from Shinola") about science or math and at dinner parties his main interest seemed to be about sex and not science. Epstein would encourage visiting scientists (like Stephen Jay Gould) to discuss some scientific topic by asking a question like "What is gravity?", but according to Pivar if Epstein became bored by the dinner table discussion he would end it by asking something like "What does that have to do with pussy?"

2) He swears over and over that he had no idea of what Epstein was up to, which doesn't seem very believable, given that he also knew many others in Epstein's orbit, like Dershowitz. He claims that he never went to what he calls Epstein's "Isle of Babes" but he finally heard a story from a woman he believed about terrible things that Epstein was doing there that led him to stop seeing Epstein. He claims that Epstein "protected" him from seeing the darker sides of his life. But he also relates a story where Epstein met him while Pivar had a young female assistant with him, and he claims that Epstein grabbed the woman's behind, causing her to yell, and he told Epstein to stop - but kept him as a friend anyway. It seems obvious that this Pivar guy at least suspected what Epstein was doing, but probably looked the other way due to the financial generosity

3) Pivar vigorously defends Epstein over and over in the interview. He admits that Epstein did some bad things, but excuses it by arguing that Epstein suffered from the male version of nymphomania called satyriasis and that he just couldn't help himself. He complains that the interviewer should know more about sex addiction and that the press has been "superficial" in covering it. And he also resorts to the disgusting old tactic of blaming the girls for much of what happened - he repeatedly says that these 15 and 16 and 17-year old girls knew what they doing and that their sex with Epstein was consensual. He repeatedly refers to one 16-year-old girl as a complicit "trollop" who kept seeing Epstein over and over but later claimed that he abused her and took advantage of her, which Pivar clearly doesn't believe. He does admit that Epstein did abuse a couple of girls, but only because he knew one of the girls personally and apparently believed her story, but he doesn't think so highly of many of the other girls. I had never heard of this guy before reading the interview, but he doesn't come across as someone with strong ethics or morals or sense of decency, which is probably why he started threatening the reporter and trying to pay him off to not post the interview transcript.

So MAGA World is not mad because Trump appears to be compromised by any of this. But they are mad that Trump won't expose the "deep state" to them?
