Dershowitz calls Ghislaine Maxwell an Epstein ‘Rosetta Stone’: ‘She knows everything’

“… Dershowitz said in an interview on “Fox News Sunday”… he does not see any harm in offering Maxwell “use immunity” to talk freely about the Epstein case in testimony before Congress.

“If she were just given use immunity, she could be compelled to testify. I’m told that she actually would be willing to testify, and there’d be no reason for her to withhold any information,” Dershowitz said….”

Not sure why Maxwell, who is asking SCOTUS to overturn her conviction in reliance on the Epstein co-conspirator immunity deal, would cooperate with DOJ for use immunity (immunity from future prosecution based on that testimony) even as DOJ opposes her SCOTUS appeal.

But it would be kind of hilarious if Team Trump ends up giving Maxwell her freedom in the name of transparency.

Also, as a reminder, back in 2020:

Trump doubles down on well-wishes for alleged sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell

The president’s remarks come after he drew criticism for his initial reaction to the arrest of Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime companion.

“… “Her friend, or boyfriend, was either killed or committed suicide in jail. She’s now in jail,” Trump told Axios’ Jonathan Swan in an interviewthat aired Monday night on HBO.

Yeah, I wish her well,” he said. “I’d wish you well. I’d wish a lot of people well. Good luck. Let them prove somebody was guilty.”

The president’s latest remarks on Maxwell come after he drew significant criticism two weeks ago for his initial reaction to the news of her arrest.

I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is,” Trump told reporters at a White House coronavirus briefing.…”

Also recall that Dershowitz is the lawyer who represented Epstein and helped negotiate his original sweetheart deal and has been the subject of direct accusations by Epstein victims.

Flashback 2021:

“On Wednesday evening, BBC viewers heard from the American lawyer Alan M. Dershowitz about the guilty verdict in the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted that day of helping the billionaire Jeffrey Epstein recruit, groom and sexually abuse underage girls.

What they were not apprised of was that Mr. Dershowitz had helped defend Mr. Epstein and has himself been accused of abuse by one of Mr. Epstein’s accusers — an accusation he denies.

… In the BBC interview, Mr. Dershowitz said that Ms. Maxwell’s trial undermined the credibility of Ms. Giuffre, and her case against Prince Andrew, whom she has also accused of sexually abusing her when she was still a minor and he was a guest of Mr. Epstein. Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, denies that claim.

Ms. Giuffre did not testify at Ms. Maxwell’s trial. And Mr. Dershowitz speculated that the prosecutors had concerns about Ms. Giuffre’s credibility.…”
