Good point. And after I posted that, I thought about an even more improbable assertion.

Who would have thought on February 23, 2045 that 80 years later, Germany would "reject" a Nazi party advocated for and enabled by the governing political party in the United States, while the United States would be governed by a fascist party advocated for and enabled by the dictator in control of Russia.

There are conflicting exit polls about how well AfD performed — regardless, it will be above historic performance but could be at the lower end or below projections going into today … a mixed bag.
 


Welp, looks like AfD hit the anticipated 20%. At least their earlier momentum was blunted.

And Merz isn't anywhere near a proto-fascist like Alice Weidel or the Trump-Musk co-presidency. And Merz and the Conservatives are refusing to coalition with Musk's, and presumably Vance's, favorite partei, the AfD.

Fox News (of course) is treating the German election as a huge victory for Trump and Trumpism. And of course their viewers will absolutely believe it.
