đź‘€ Waltz, SecDef planned Houthi bombing over Signal & accidentally included a journalist

“Shortly after senior Trump administration officials discussed and celebrated the bombing of Yemen in an encrypted group chat that, unbeknownst to them, included the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic, a subset of the group feasted at an opulent, secret dinnerfeaturing the president where guests were asked to pay $1 million apiece to snag a seat.

The date was Saturday, March 15. President Donald Trump was at his Mar-a-Lago estate attending a “candlelight” dinner that wasn’t on his public calendar. … Earlier that day, the United States had bombed Yemen, targeting Houthi leadership. At least 53 people, including children, were killed.

Trump flew to the event on Air Force One with Elon Musk and Musk’s four year old son X, according to photos and videos viewed by WIRED.

Throughout the weekend, Musk was in close contact with Trump and at least one member of the president’s brain trust who was participating in a Signal group chat where highly sensitive details of the planned operation were being shared. Experts say the conversation appears to have violated government protocols on information sharing.

The candlelight dinner attendees included national security advisor Michael Waltz and the White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller, according to a source familiar with the events. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also present at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend, according to a photograph from the following day viewed by WIRED and confirmed by a source familiar with the events.

… According to the Atlantic's reporting, Miller—who WIRED previously reported is referred to inside Trumpworld as “PM,” short for prime minister—effectively shut down Vance’s concern. …”

That's what you get when you hire talk show and reality TV show host, instead of professionals.

And then the fucking moron in charge didn't even know what happened. I'm sure he was briefed on it, but was probably asking for a big mac instead of listening.
The way Trump is, it would be like us being briefed in Sanskrit. Very fucking pathetic. I’m waiting for our trumpers to respond. What say you guys?

Can someone help me out with one aspect of the story? Goldberg has the text messages and has published at least some of them, correct?

Then what the fuck is Pete Hegseth doing denying it? Obviously they lie and lie shamelessly, but the guy has the fucking texts! I'm confused. Or maybe Hegseth is.

If Europe wasn’t already on notice, the extraordinary leak of deliberations by JD Vance and other top-level Trump administration officials over a strike against the Houthis in Yemen was another sign that it has a target on its back.

The administration officials gave Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic a front-row seat to the planning for the strike against the Houthis – a stunning intelligence leak that has caused anger against Republicans who called for criminal investigations against Hillary Clinton and others for playing fast and loose with sensitive information.

On the face of it, the strike against the Houthis had far more to do with the administration’s policies on protecting maritime trade and containing Iran than its concerns about Europe freeloading on US defense spending and military prowess.

But Vance appears determined to push that angle as a reason to postpone the strike.

...
Broadly, the administration’s policies on Europe are coming into focus. And there are few stepping up to voice backing for Nato or for Europe writ large. On a podcast interview this weekend, the senior Trump envoy Steve Witkoff mused about the potential for the Gulf economies to replace those of Europe. “It could be much bigger than Europe. Europe is dysfunctional today,” he said.
