Not sure if he’s been mentioned and not my personal favorite necessarily, but a hugely important one — Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man from the novel of the same name.

Not on the level of Jim or maybe others, but a big deal. Especially since Ellison was a black author unlike Twain of course.
