Flame Warriors and Message Boards

Some of those handles are interesting. "Crybaby" "Jerk" "Nitpick" "Weenie"
I'm sure those early poasters tried valiantly to live up to their internet names.

When I started - asking someone ASL didn't mean you were asking if they knew American Sign Language

I remember posting on message boards as early as early as probably 1996-97. ACCBoards.com was my first true 'hang-out' though I lurked at Dave Chen's place IIRC.

This site was also pretty interesting in the early days...

I’m pretty sure that it was Tar Heels basketball that made me discover message boards (and what ultimately led me to this one here). I’m not sure whether or not it was Dave Chen’s boards, but I do remember being on message boards as of late winter/early spring of 1995, discussing the Vince Carter recruitment and, believe it or not, the Kevin Garnett recruitment. The talk among Tar Heels fans was that KG had strong interest in coming to UNC but grades were an issue. While there was talk about him going pro right of high school, it was hard for people to wrap their head around that at the time.

My first foray into message boards was during the 2001-02 8-20 season. I was living in LA and needed to commiserate with other fans. I found the old GoHeels board. When that board went away (I don't know why) I found my way to IC which lead me to the old ZZL.

A long-ass time ago. It had to have been before 95. I started at Carolina in 88 and left in 97, and it was probably mid way of my time there.
BigHeel checking in

I loved Tar Heel Talk. I have fond memories of Mungo's lawyer and Mungo's lawyer's lawyer :)

Thanks for the memories

My introduction to the internet was in 1994. First time I ever ventured into the “world wide web.”
