I used to love buying and reading those old ACC Handbooks at the start of each season. And the chapter on dook for the 83/84 season edition was basically about how if K didn't turn things around that season then he was probably gone. I remember that one sentence said something like "Krzyzewski knows the wolves are at the door." And of course it did turn around, but he was that close to being pushed out the door.

I still have a couple dozen of the ACC Handbooks.

I still have a couple dozen of the ACC Handbooks.

I really wished I had saved mine, especially the 83/84 one which had some great photos of MJ and Sam Perkins (one of my favorite Tar Heels ever). Those books were like time capsules of the ACC's golden age, and they had detailed chapters on the prospects for every single ACC team that season. And some great photo spreads of ACC cheerleaders too, as I recall.
