They did their big, crappy finale….and the crowd went deathly silent.

Now they’re bringing out Lee Greenwood.

So, this event was at American Legion Post #6 on Hwy 54 between Orange Grove Road and White Cross.

They’re still shooting off fireworks (ended about 10:28 pm)..

This part of Orange County is zoned farming/low density residential with a few commercial sites in it (gas stations mostly).

Ten-fifteen years ago, Orange County decided that wedding venues would be lucrative (sales tax dollars); so, it started giving zoning variances to property owners wanting to create party/event venues. Orange County hands these out like candy on Halloween.

Now, we’ve been told by the county that these event venues would restrict music/bands to inside the venue and fireworks won’t happen.

I have at least 4 of these venues within 1-2 miles a a crow would fly.

I have 40-50 neighbors with livestock within 1-2 miles as a crow would fly.

Fireworks after 10:00 pm, fireworks period, freak out livestock. It’s not the sparkly lights; it’s the loud bangs and explosions.

I’m so glad Flagstock 2024’s freedom to make noise interfered with our freedom to not have noise like this in our area.

Sounds like White Cross. Yep I'm surprised that the Legion allowed it but hell they also have the electric sign!

The American Legion in Chapel Hill is likely “anything goes” as long as you pay the rental fee…..they’d rent to high school groups back in the day on Legion Road off Ephesus Church Road - no chaperones, kegs, 50-gallon garbage cans filled with PJ’s.

I remember the CHHS Key Club renting it for a party or 10…..I might have been the “renter” my junior year. The biggest stipulations: the yard clear of bottles, cans, cups, coolers, and passed out attendees by dawn; floors and bathrooms spic-and-span (no puke smell) by 10:00 am. Members would be arriving to watch football - it was Sunday, after all.

Rome from Sublime.... He tried to be in "Sublime," but got sued by the deceased singer's family, so the band had to tour as "Sublime with Rome." So he really should be listed as "Rome from Sublime with Rome."

I smell another lawsuit.

We must be practically neighbors if that's where you are. I live off Hatch Road in hearing distance of 54.

I lived on 54 about a mile from the "concert" site one year when I was at UNC, across from the old rock quarry...

so, shitty music was played in a parking lot with maybe a couple hundred area magas and barely any students in attendance?

hilarious and failtastic, lmao.

the right is truly the antithesis of anything cool/fun at this point.

All these little events seem to be the equivalent of preschool participation trophies.

Can't imagine a party more hype than one featuring the elderly crooning of Lee Greenwood or the maudlin droning of Aaron Lewis.
I can't believe kid (old man) rock didn't make a surprise appearance.
