Fuck yes

Got the good news just as I landed in Phoenix. Haven’t even had a chance to look at the bracket yet.

New metric put them ahead of other bubble teams. Believe it was taking schedule vs schedule and how each team would do with the other’s schedule. We played dook 3 times, Auburn, UF, Bama and MSU. Three 1 seeds and two 2 seeds for a total of 7 games. Lost them all 😀 but Heels played the games. Now give the Heels the big games on the other schedules. Possibly a different story.

What put us on the bubble was the bad losses. I get the Quad 1 wins but don’t lose to Stanford, Wake or Pitt and this isn’t a discussion.
Gotta give Adam Lucas credit. He had an article on this today.

UNC was the punching bag for the ESPN2 NCAA bracket preview just now (what a travesty that we got in over WVU and how did we get in if Louisville is an 8-seed etc).

We’re going on a run in the tourney.
I hope you are right. Would love to see these guys get to the Sweet 16 (but if they do, that is likely where they run into their ceiling reflected in the Quad-1 losses this year).

Hopefully the near-death experience from the loss in the ACCT semifinals jolts the team to focus on the do or die NCAAT.

Somehow, this SDSU team beat Houston early this year — albeit in the third place game of that tourney (dropping Houston to 4-3 at the time — they finished 30-4!) , and they destroyed Cal by 21 in San Jose (a common opponent for reference, we beat Cal by 26 at our place). SDSU does have a 7-footer (Gwath) who has gone off on a number of games (though the freshman is wildly erratic and has had a lot more games in the 0-6 point range but a number over 20), which is obviously concerning for UNC.

Gwath hasn't played since Feb. 22 and is coming off of a knee injury. He's a freshman averaging 8 ppg and 5 rpg. Named Mountain West Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year.
