This reflects very poorly on me, my life, and everything else about me, but what I was hearing was swan talk for, "Where have you been! Who were you with! Do not think for one second you can come crawling back to me with some cock and bull story about going somewhere and 'magically' being healed. They missed an opportunity with this one. There should have been a second cartoon at DNC HQ with a guy on the ladder, painting the word “DON’T” above the previous “VOTE FOR THE OLD GUY” sign.
 
I’m a part of several classic funny pages groups on Facebook and have been recently introduced to Outburst of Everett True, a comic from the early 20th Century:

The basic gist of is that someone says something to piss him off and he beats the living hell out of them. It is remarkably progressive:
