I was surprised how far ChatGPT took it.

The only thing it really missed was the Tea Olive Plant, which is just in the corner. It seemed to believe that was a magnolia.

8. Fallen magnolia leaves / leaf litter
The brown leathery leaves on the right side of the mulch look like fallen magnolia-type leaves, which also supports the shrub/tree ID.

Non-plant items

You’ve also got dark wood mulch, a black fence, and what looks like a metal garden stake/shepherd’s hook on the left.

Just finished walking around. They just took the bloom. The plants are okay and I'll get some more flowers. Probably not what I had but there's always next year. I did find that several slender bush clover that I thought wouldn't make are are going to and that five more jack in the pulpit that didn't sprout last year have in the last couple of days. It also looks like I'm finally having success getting Indian pink to grow. It's supposed to be easy but I've had horrible luck until now.

I'm not that upset about the deer. I want a good result but that has almost nothing to do with why I'm doing it. It was about exercise, mental therapy and relaxation from the beginning and it's been invaluable for all three. As long as I keep kicking the can down the road in the right direction, I'm good with how it's going. Stressing out over a side salad would seem to defeat the purpose.
A few years ago, I was frustrated as hell at the damage squirrels would do. I bought 3 “Have-A-Heart” traps and relocated 200+ squirrels in 6 months.

A couple of years later, voles were going apeshit.

I didn’t know squirrels ate voles.

I’m now good with squirrels rampaging and digging up newly planted plants. I can easily replant.

Yeah. I thought about scent repellents and the like but, after all, this is a pollinator garden. WTH would I alter the scent to keep deer away and maybe keep the pollinators away as well. I figure it's like income tax. Nature, like the government , is going to get their part.
