To be fair to Al Franken:I will say that this is one issue on which neither party has a clear record or much to brag about. Yes, liberals do tend act more quickly (at least over the past 15 to 20 years) to remove their pols and/or celebrities who are credibly accused of sexual assault or harassment (see Al Franken for starters) and their record in supporting women's rights is certainly superior, but unfortunately there have been a good number of Democratic pols and celebrities over the years who have been credibly accused of sexual assault and harassment. IMO, this issue has much less to do with political ideology than with massive egos and arrogance and the belief that it's OK to prey on the women around you. For example, I always enjoyed listening to Charlie Rose on PBS and was disappointed when he turned out to be a serial sexual harasser, although based on what I read he certainly deserved to be fired.
- I think the use of the word "credible" in the phrase "credibly accused" is a stretch
- Even if he was 100% guilty of everything he was accused of (e.g. side boob squeeze at a county fair photo op), it doesn't belong in the same conversation as an allegation of booking a single bedroom hotel suite for you and an opposite sex employee (easily proven paper trail, I would think) and then raping her there.
