Garth Brooks accused of sexual assault and rape

I will say that this is one issue on which neither party has a clear record or much to brag about. Yes, liberals do tend act more quickly (at least over the past 15 to 20 years) to remove their pols and/or celebrities who are credibly accused of sexual assault or harassment (see Al Franken for starters) and their record in supporting women's rights is certainly superior, but unfortunately there have been a good number of Democratic pols and celebrities over the years who have been credibly accused of sexual assault and harassment. IMO, this issue has much less to do with political ideology than with massive egos and arrogance and the belief that it's OK to prey on the women around you. For example, I always enjoyed listening to Charlie Rose on PBS and was disappointed when he turned out to be a serial sexual harasser, although based on what I read he certainly deserved to be fired.
To be fair to Al Franken:
  1. I think the use of the word "credible" in the phrase "credibly accused" is a stretch
  2. Even if he was 100% guilty of everything he was accused of (e.g. side boob squeeze at a county fair photo op), it doesn't belong in the same conversation as an allegation of booking a single bedroom hotel suite for you and an opposite sex employee (easily proven paper trail, I would think) and then raping her there.
Not to minimize groping, that is criminal touching, and no one should ever be subjected to that, but it is objectively in a whole other class from rape, in the same way that battery is in a separate class from murder.

I agree completely, I was just using him to point out that Democrats do tend to take these types of charges more seriously than Republicans do.

You have it backwards. She ended up in a hotel room alone because he didn’t book one for her and that’s where he ended up raping her.
Even if I'm wrong about that particular situation, the article describes at least 3 separate incidents, right? How many times do you need to be sexually assaulted before you find a new job?

Be careful. I believe it was Matt Damon who's career was jeopardized for similar comments.
