Gas prices

It was pretty neat that for quite a while, I could fill up my tank for significantly less than in years past.

$3.09 for regular on my way home tonight. Was $2.99 this morning sooooo … yeah.

Got down as low as $2.29/gallon earlier in February but has been doing usual creep up here as spring approaches and more folks need to gas up boats and lawnmowers. But that accelerated sharply since this weekend.

Gas stations only make a tiny bit from the actual sale of their gasoline. They make the majority of their profits from the markup on the sundries and snacks inside. Might just be a case of "this is how it's always been done."

ETA: yeah, what 1287 said - it's an internal cost game.

Cause Exxon and BP shareholders want to get rich and don't give a shit. Corporate world is fucking evil
This part. I also think station owners start to try to absorb the upcoming costs to some extent. In other words, better to go to $3 this week and $3.25 next week than straight from $2.50 to $3.50 when the next shipment arrives.
