I am so, so sick and tired of people like this. The sense of unearned entitlement, refusal to play by the rules that apply to others (not wearing political gear into a voting center), the in-your-face antics and insults and anger when told they can't do something - like a spoiled child - and all in service of someone like Trump. I wish these people would just climb back under the rocks they crawled out from when he was first elected. Sadly, I don't think that will happen though, as Trump seems to have energized them and (in their minds) given them license to behave this way.
 
Welp. Elon was working illegally in the US on a J-1 Visa. J-1 is a student Visa that would allow an assistantship or fellowship at a university, but does not permit working for a company in the US. Εven a post-doctoral position requires an H-1B Visa. Musk lied and he did not "transfer" or have an H-1B at the time. You can't make this sh*t up.

To transfer a J-1 to an H-1B Visa requires the applicant to RETURN to their home country, visit the American consulate (so we know Musk was lying), fill out a slew of forms, fork over quite a bit of $. I actually paid an H-1B Visa set of fees (thousands of $) out of grant and other sources to bring over a research scientist on an H1-B.

I guess Trump will have to DEPORT Elon Musk on Day 1 of Trump 2.0.
