What value would we be abandoning? Me personally, I’ve never made it a habit to invite assholes to my family functions.Abandoning values because your enemy has done so feels like a shortcut to disaster.
Because he refused to peacefully concede power four years ago, people died as a result, and our 250 year old democracy was pushed to the brink for the first time since the Civil War.I don’t go out of my way to do it, but I invite assholes to some family functions…just cause they’re part of the family (and I don’t want to risk losing other members of the family from that exclusion).
Pretty sure the protocol for that event is to invite former living Presidents and vice presidents. What would be the grounds for not inviting Trump? Because you don’t like him? Because he’s not a legitimate president? That makes you just as bad as the other side.
Sorry, just doesn’t mesh with my way of handling things.
Carter was a Christian. Jesus said the two most important commands were love God and love each other, and every other command would take care of itself (my paraphrase!). He also said that if you love him, you should keep his commands. Jimmy Carter did that as well as anyone who walked this earth. So absolutely correct, Carter wouldn't have approved of him being turned away. I really struggle with Jesus' second command when it comes to Trump, that is why I said I wish I was more like Carter in a previous thread. To be honest, I would have wanted is sorry ass kept far away from my funeral or any of my loved ones' funeral. And yes, I probably would not shake his hand.Bet Carter wouldn't have approved of him being turned away.
Did she have brain damage at some point?

I don't know but I can't imagine why he would.Did President Carter leave no message behind about trump and his funeral? Do we know?
Thiel has always been a bigger bastard than Musk.Well good news for the world, Musk isn't the only billionaire fascist going utterly nuts.
I Have No Idea What Peter Thiel Is Trying to Say and It’s Making Me Really Uncomfortable
In a rambling op-ed for the Financial Times, the master of the universe ranted about the JFK conspiracy, ‘The Decameron,’ immortal rulers from ‘Gulliver’s Travels,’ and Jeffrey Epstein.gizmodo.com
Nice to know the survival of our democracy may depend upon two right-wing egomaniac multibillionaires hating each other so much and becoming so jealous of one another that they cancel each other out and undercut each other with the new administration. What a great political system we currently have here!Thiel has always been a bigger bastard than Musk.
They also hate one another. Thiel thinks Musk is a moron and a fraud who cons people rather than invents things, and Musk thinks Thiel is a joyless sociopath who wants to be a king.
So at least they understand each other.
