I guess 2025 may be the year that courtesy handshakes die.

Never let them see you sweat. Or, never let them see your disdain and dislike. A real swamp creature usually loves it when he knows he bothers someone. Of course in this case, its well known that Trump seeks approval so I get it.

On the other hand, Pence and Gore made sure he couldn't pass without shaking hands. Good for them. That had to bother Trump. Which I suspect they knew it would. Had nothing to do with showing "class" I bet.

Wow did the word decorum fall out of the dictionary?
(ETA: See Chris Rock commentary after calling Columbine shooters crazy?)

Don’t over think it. Gore and Pence demonstrated class by standing and shaking the hand of the President elect. Otherwise, not impressed by the manners of the other people in the first two rows (although Trump and Obama laughing together was nice). When in doubt do what Queen Elizabeth would do in these formal State functions.

Okay. Make me a liar over the letter a vs u but check yourself for this being your take away.
Shame on y'all when Ramrouser speaks truth vs gotcha

Trump never should have been within a mile of Jimmy Carter’s memorial service.

You voted for a man so devoid of class that Karl Marx would call him a utopian state.

Spare us your lectures.

I’d like to know why he was invited. He shouldn’t have been there.
I rather doubt there's ever been an opportunity to invite a President ELECT to these funerals. I wonder who made the decision and invitation. I suppose, since it was a State Funeral that the call was out of the family's hands.

And if he wasn't invited...............

Former President...that's why he was invited. Has been the protocol for presidential funerals I the last 20-30 years.
Fuck that. If John McCain’s family can keep the traitor out of his funeral, Jimmy Carter’s family could have done the same.

Protocol doesn’t exist anymore. The sooner we come to grips with that, the better we’ll be.

Protocol ends when the sitting president tries to hold onto power by sending a violent mob to interrupt a democratic proceeding.

Abandoning values because your enemy has done so feels like a shortcut to disaster.
What value would we be abandoning? Me personally, I’ve never made it a habit to invite assholes to my family functions.

The only thing they’d be “abandoning” is historical protocol, but the American citizens don’t seem to have a problem with that since they did the same when they re-elected a felon and rapist to the highest office in the land.

Trump needs to be ostracized, not embraced. Stop normalizing him.

I don’t go out of my way to do it, but I invite assholes to some family functions…just cause they’re part of the family (and I don’t want to risk losing other members of the family from that exclusion).

Pretty sure the protocol for that event is to invite former living Presidents and vice presidents. What would be the grounds for not inviting Trump? Because you don’t like him? Because he’s not a legitimate president? That makes you just as bad as the other side.

Sorry, just doesn’t mesh with my way of handling things.
