This is big news. Trump is backing down on yet another issue.

What has he accomplished this term? There's been a record number of injunctions against the administration. But on pretty much every issue, he's stood down. Nothing that he's tried to do has worked.

And this is the blessing of Trump -- the opposite of what his supporters think. He doesn't have enough attention span to get anything done. He's always trying to win the next news cycle, like the Mets, and just has no capacity to think longer-term. We'd be much more fucked with a competent fascist. Not that we're in a great state today, but it helps that our fascists are actually pussies.

Maybe billionaires can't be true fascists. Fascism, like Bane, breeds in darkness, in adversity, in the anger and resentment that can only be forged by actual struggle. Billionaires just don't have their heart in it. Even Trump just doesn't have a killer instinct.

U.S. Restores Legal Status for Many International Students, but Warns of Removals to Come

Immigration officials signaled that the Trump administration would continue to pursue efforts to terminate the legal status of the students, despite a wave of legal challenges.

“The Trump administration on Friday abruptly moved to restore thousands of international students’ ability to study in the United States legally, but immigration officials insisted they could still try to terminate that legal status despite a wave of legal challenges.

The decision, revealed during a court hearing in Washington, was a dramatic shift by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, even as the administration characterized it as only a temporary reprieve.

The back and forth only contributed to the anxiety and confusion facing international students as the administration has moved to cancel more than 1,500 student visas in recent weeks.

On Friday morning, Joseph F. Carilli, a Justice Department lawyer, told a federal judge in Washington that immigration officials had begun work on a new system for reviewing and terminating the records of international students and academics studying in the United States. Until the process was complete, he said, student records that had been purged from a federal database in recent weeks would be restored, along with their legal status. …”

A small, but important victory. Still...

Arrest progression...let's see if we have this down...

1. Arrest illegal aliens who have committed a felony

2. Arrest an illegal immigrant with any kind of arrest

3. Arrest illegal migrants who have committed no crime

4. Arrest legal immigrants who have committed no crime

5. Arrest Student Visa (e.g., F-1) who have committed no felony crime

6. Arrest Green card holders who have committed no crime

7. Arrest US citizens who have committed no crime

8. Arrest US judges who have committed no crime.

Seriously...Do we need to go any farther to declare this at least Gestapo and Hitler wannabes.

“… The Trump administration’s abrupt move, announced by a Justice Department lawyer in court Friday, tacitly acknowledged what judges in two dozen states had been saying since early April: Terminating university students’ immigration records from a federal database — a step which appeared to jeopardize their legal authorization to remain in the country — was almost certainly illegal. And it was implemented so ham-handedly that judges felt compelled to intervene.

… The whiplash-inducing turnabout was a fresh setback for the administration’s aggressive crackdown on foreign students and for President Donald Trump’s broader immigration agenda, which has been mired in legal challenges. Courts have blocked or forced the administration to reverse core policies on deportations of purported gang members, refugee admissions, legal status for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans and other efforts to hurriedly remove immigrants from the country. Those setbacks have come at all levels of the court system and centered on the administration’s alleged efforts to sidestep due process requirements enshrined in the Constitution. …”

This needs to be done on all the dumbass crap Trump has been doing. He has shown if someone fights hard enough he will back down. There needs to be more legal action on other things, such as freezing the federal funds.
