OK, so food at home (groceries) was quite a bit lower but food away was still heightened, though dropping, in 2024:

I’d hazard a guess that one reason food away from home is increasing at a higher rate than food at home is the cost of beef.OK, so food at home (groceries) was quite a bit lower but food away was still heightened, though dropping, in 2024:
I expect beef is a higher percentage of restaurant food than it is home food.
Also, butter. One reason those restaurant meals are so yummy is they use a shitload more butter than any home cook ever even thinks about using. Butter and salt.
Also, massive wage increases for restaurant workers. California fast food workers now make minimum wage of $20 hour. You can cook at home for the same wage rate you have always earned for cooking at home.

This is why he is soooo much worse being president than running. He just keeps doing the campaign lies, which aren't as easily invalidated, but as president they are right in front. So the persuadable people are able to see in the shopping cart that he is lying.
