Corn on the cob went from $6.99 to $9.99 in a week.Went to Costco yesterday. $9.99 for a watermelon now. Most everything else was up at least 25%
Why buy corn-on-the-cob in April? Or from a big chain?Corn on the cob went from $6.99 to $9.99 in a week.
I love your description of corn on the cob as a butter delivery device. I remember the first time I heard the phrase "delivery device". It was referring to cigarettes as a nicotine delivery device. Why buy corn-on-the-cob in April? Or from a big chain?
Any sweetness has converted to starch.
I realize that corn-on-the-cob is merely a butter, salt, and, possibly, black pepper delivery device.*** Also, there’s something fun about eating corn-on-the-cob.
***Lobster is also a butter delivery device. Loads of butter. Who eats lobster without butter? I do. I know I’m weird.
My daughter wanted it to make street corn. Why buy corn-on-the-cob in April? Or from a big chain?

You mean $4.24.
Not to be picky but rotting corn can't build carbon chains from sucrose/glucose to a starch - long chained carbo. The sugar, proteins, fats break down due to bacteria - lipid peroxides, aldehydes, sulfur gas is released - boring to a nasty taste. My daughter wanted it to make street corn.
It was from Costco. Publix and Walmart didn't have any.
The corn is probably from Argentina or Brazil.I love your description of corn on the cob as a butter delivery device. I remember the first time I heard the phrase "delivery device". It was referring to cigarettes as a nicotine delivery device.
Wow, I'm glad I didn't buy them now....Not to be picky but rotting corn can't build carbon chains from sucrose/glucose to a starch - long chained carbo. The sugar, proteins, fats break down due to bacteria - lipid peroxides, aldehydes, sulfur gas is released - boring to a nasty taste.
If we don’t get any rain soon there’s not gonna be much if any local anything but apparently peonies! They’re beautiful right now!Corn is like strawberries and peaches and ‘maters and watermelon and radishes and blueberries/blackberries/raspberries and a slew of other veggies/fruits.
The local season is short (or, in many cases, non-existent). I’d rather not have a strawberry or watermelon or corn (etc.) out-of-season.
MAGA in a nutshell. If Trump or Fox News says it, then it must be true, no matter what.
