Checking in from Vero Beach, Florida here. Recovering from pneumonia, taking a break from helping my stepdad organize hospice care for my ailing mom. I’ve had better NYEs…but hey, another day will dawn on another year tomorrow, and the world will keep turning.

Happy new years, all!

Damn dude. Hope you are feeling better quickly. Sorry to hear about your parents.

Thinking of you and yours. Get better so you can take care of them.

As I watch the musical acts perform during the televised New Years events (and seeing recent popular musical acts in general), I feel like today’s pop music is essentially bad versions of past musical styles performed by artists with a shit-ton of tattoos on their faces.

I wish I could say that I enter 2025 with an air of hope and visions of a fresh start. However, I have a sense of foreboding and dread about the coming year and beyond. I hope it turns out to be nothing but it's not something I've ever felt at the turn of the year so it is disconcerting.

Thank you all. I really do appreciate it.

And I didn’t mean to derail the NYE celebration thread with my own drama.

Here’s to a happy new year for all on the board!

If you look on the bright side, that means there’s a reasonable possibility that it may be better than you expect.

Same.

My bum out is that I have a limited number of years left on this planet. And now, starting in 2025, I'll have to spend another four (or more) years with the stupidest, most corrupt, and worst president in American history. I apologized yet again tonight to my oldest kid for the shithole country that I'm leaving him. He understands that his job fixing this country won't be easy and will likely be a longer haul after Trump further wrecks it.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year !

2024 was a tough year for me :

broken shoulder
degenerative disc disease diagnosis
lesion on my kidney
detached retina in my right eye
return of my Dupuytren's contracture

The missus tells me she needs to trade me in on a newer model

I'm going to eat black eyed peas, collards, and cornbread today and hope to live next year without anymore health issues :)

My intuition says something major will happen within a yr or two. Of course it will blamed on Biden by the Trumpsters and on Trump by the blue masses. The truth most always lie in the middle and with the simplest explanation. Happy New Year

Generation Beta has it's first few members in the world.

Gen Alpha is done with their count
I just realized this morning that my school has instructors in 5 different generations actively working. With there only being 15 of us total, that's surprising. I have one Silent Generation. He's 83 and works basically as a moderator now but we love him and will let him stay as long as he wants. I also have the one who co-teaches with me most often and he's 27. Pretty crazy spread.

Definitely eating collard greens, black eyed peas, cornbread and fried shrimp today. Already had a waffles and Bloody Mary breakfast.

What are you eating today for your New Years’ meal?
