2026 can't be worse than 2025, right?
Having my traditional meal on New Year's Day of pork, black eyed peas and collards. Also, not washing any clothes on the 1st because my grandma said that was washing for the dead.
For us it is tradition but with the hope it will bring good luck and prosperity in the new yearI never ate any of the traditional NY Day foods like black eyed peas and collards until after my first marriage when we would go to her parent’s on the 1st of each year.
Those were the worst years of my life financially, so I don’t feel the need to eat them out of superstition.
Do the people here who eat these things do it out of superstition or tradition (maybe a combination)?
