Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope (or simply “Star Wars” as I always knew it)
Return of the Jedi
Rogue One

I pretend all the others don’t exist.

I never saw Rise of Skywalker - i've been meaning to watch it sometime - so I excluded that one from my rankings, but here goes:

Empire Strikes Back
Rogue One
A New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Last Jedi
The Force Awakens
Attack of the clones
Phantom Menace
Solo

I went back and forth on where to put Last Jedi but was surprised to see you list it so highly. It had some cool scenes but I thought the overall plot was a mess.

I have more of a soft spot for the prequel movies than this ranking might suggest; they generally aren't "good" movies but I was younger when they came out and so have more of a nostalgia tie to them. I actually enjoyed Solo too, or at least enjoyed some of the characters, but the plot and ending were pretty bad.

I honestly debated putting Rogue One #1. It's such a good movie.

Rise of Skywalker is truly awful

Glad most agree on ESB being the best… because it was.

But I would argue that Revenge of the Sith was the second best (maybe third after A New Hope). I thought the story was great in it and it and the serious mood of it all was needed after so much of the goofy Ewoks and the like.

Loved ROTS but can’t put it ahead of ESB or ANH. But it definitely bridges the original trilogy with the late 90’s/early 00’s trilogy.

I know Kenobi does a little bit but if there’s one thing missing from the Disney spinoffs, it’s the time period between ROTS & ANH.

I debated putting ROTS ahead of ROTJ in my own list and probably should have. It’s probably a “better” movie. Just have so much nostalgia for the original trilogy that’s hard to shake, haha.

I’m in the minority, but the Ewoks never bothered me. Still don’t. I loved them as a kid and what I love about the Star Wars movies are the things that made me love the movies as a kid. The only thing that bothers me about the Ewoks is that Lucas discarded the “Yub Nub” song and replaced it with cheesy-sounding theme music. And then we have to see the redone Hayden Christensen version of Anakin Skywalker’s force ghost.

i didn't watch TROS or Solo but this is the closest anybody here has come to my rankings, though I'm not like a die-hard Star Wars fan:

1. ESB
2. TLJ
3. ROTJ
4. ANH
5. R1
6. TFA
7. ROTS
8. AOTS
9. TPM

It brings me constant shame that my generation is trying to rehabilitate the prequels. Some good action scenes and some fun memes but they have never been good movies. I think Force Awakens is a derivative mess that's only partially saved by great performances, but it's still a way better movie than any of the prequels.

Some of the big things that the prequel trilogy got wrong were that it took itself too seriously and provided too many stupid backstories that were unnecessary, didn’t really make sense, and detracted from the way the main characters of the original trilogy found one another.

What the sequel trilogy got right was that it didn’t take itself too seriously, but the story (if it can be called that) within the sequel trilogy was disjointed and full of underdeveloped main characters, many of whom ultimately seemed unnecessary to advance much of the story.

The Ewoks were hilarious.

So if we take every Star Wars live action movie, series, and special, and put them in chronological order based on when they took place, I think it would go like this:

The Acolyte
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Solo
Andor
Rogue One
A New Hope
The Star Wars Holiday Special
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Mandalorian season 1
Skeleton Crew
The Mandalorian season 2
The Book of Boba Fett
The Mandalorian season 3
Ahsoka
The Mandalorian and Grogu (coming May 22)
The Force Awakens
The Last Jedi
Rise of Skywalker

If I had to tank every live action movie, series, or special above (excluding the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, which hasn’t come out yet), I would probably go:
1. Empire
2. A New Hope
3. ROTJ
4. Madalorian
5. Andor
6. Rogue One
7. Skeleton Crew
8. Book of Boba Fett
9. Ahsoka
10. Revenge of the Sith
11. Obi-wan Kenobi
12. Solo
13. The Force Awakens
14. Attack of the Clones
15. The Phantom Menace
16. The Last Jedi
17. Rise of Skywalker
18. Caravan of Courage
19. Battle for Endor
20. The Acolyte
21. Holiday Special

1-5 I love.
6-9 I really like.
10-13 I’m fairly indifferent toward, but don’t dislike.
14-17 I’m still fairly indifferent toward, but like less than the four above them.
18-19 I haven’t seen in years and years. I know I loved them as a kid, but doubt I’d think much of them now. They might work on a nostalgic level.
20 is pretty bad.
21 is really bad.
