Why are there AR-15's in every other scene? This might sound insensitive but this looks like cosplay. Were they going to shoot away the floodwaters? Maybe shoot some fallen trees? Shoot some lead into the broken electrical and water systems? Somebody please tell me about the hurricane-crazed bears which no longer are repelled by sticks and loud noises.

BTW -I assume all fisheries in this area are just flat out wiped out? I "pretend " I can fly fish and go up there a couple times a year I guess that is done until DNR can replenish the streams

Talked to several of my friends who recently got back from deployments to WNC. They are mostly a conservative bunch but were very fed up with the misinformation that was being spread about the response out there. They were able to cite specific instances of threats to workers delaying their operations. These are guys who worked their asses off out there, ultimately on FEMA's dime, only to come home and be told how nothing is being done.
