Decent article from a couple days ago that talks about the "can we even still get them" part.

I would implore everyone to get vaccinated per your doctors recommendations.
It’s unclear to me if new vaccines are available. RFK has cancelled all mRNA work killing development of new vaccines targeting the current t strains, so I’m confused if these are last years vaccines or new ones.

my surgery went fairly smooth. I did have a small stroke during the surgery but it didn’t cause any lasting effects. My biggest advice is to get up and move. Don’t lay around. The sooner you get up and start walking the quicker he will recover.

Thanks for the thread and well wishes. I’m almost all the way back. Still have some lingering energy issues and sleep problems but I’m no where close to the lows that I was dealing with for weeks and weeks on end.

Avoid Covid at all cost. It’s not gone from our society and it can mess you up.
Good to hear you're on the road to recovery.

It’s amazing how far they have come with heart surgeries. I had my aortic valve replaced on a Monday and was up and walking on Wednesday. Went home on Saturday and was pretty much back to normal a few weeks later.
Not just heart surgeries but just about anything they do these days.

My elderly father who wasn't doing very well at the time fell 5-6 months ago and broke the ball at the top of his femur (part that sits in the hip socket) and they replaced it with titanium one. Several hours after the surgery they stood him up so he could see if he felt any real discomfort. He did not and they started physical therapy on him the next day. This included a taking a few steps with some assistance and within the next couple of days he was using a walker to take those steps on his own and progress continued at that pace.

Rock, so glad you are doing better. My brother has pretty bad long covid. It forced him to retire. The fact that you have already mostly recovered is amazing. So happy for you.

Have a question for the board. Are you all getting a yearly Covid shot? Can we even still get them?

I usually get one every fall along with the flu vaccine.
I get one every year, but I live in a country that believes in proper preventative medicine... and science.
