Big Daddy Kane has a house nearby. I keep hoping to see him around town sometime.

Big Daddy Kane has a house nearby. I keep hoping to see him around town sometime.

I twice saw him in concert. The first time was at the old Charlotte Coliseum (the first place the Hornets played) back in 1990. Queen Latifah and Third Bass opened. The next time was at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh in 2021. He and Lee Fields opened up for Khruangbin.

Roughly 10 years ago, I went to see DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist put on a show using Afrika Bambaataa’s record collection. It was was pretty damn cool.
