Yeah, that's fair, too, for sure. I'd be feeling much better with Jackson and/or Powell back. Hopefully the PG we brought in is an upgrade on the court from Cadeau- can't help but be in an upgrade in the attitude/maturity department I would think.

I haven't seen what our schedule looks like next year but I am really hoping that the OOC schedule isn't nearly as brutal as it was this past year. I feel like we never recovered from all of those losses we took OOC.
Central Arkansas 11/3
Radford 11/11
Kansas 11/14
Navy 11/18
Fort Myers Tip-Off: Michigan State 11/27
ACC-SEC Challenge TBA
CBS Sports Classic TBA
South Carolina Upstate 12/13

Great find, Zoo! Appreciate that.

Looks like a pretty formidable schedule once again with KU, MSU, whomever our SEC challenge opponent will be, and whomever our CBS Classic opponent will be.

Nowhere close as challenging as last years schedule. Maybe we can actually win a few of the Q1 games this year. I do think the ACC will be better. But then again it can't be much worse.

Woof. Heard we made a huge offer and then Stanford just rolled over us and offered $4m and supposedly Illinois came back and offered more than that.

I don’t have IC but I’d guess 90% of the fans are bitching that it’s because Hubert sucks or UNC is down as a program blah blah. No.. it’s just money.

I thought money wasn't an issue. If UNC can't compete with the money then they will be down as a program.

According to Travis Branham UNC was never really in play here. Stanford was the team making headway over the weekend. And that he went to Illinois due to fit, not money. Cjones said that AS was never really interested in UNC because of the way HD used Drake this year.

One of the most frustrating things about this new NIL era from a fan’s perspective is that we don’t actually know exactly how much money each program has in its budget and we don’t know exactly how much each player is getting paid. So in a situation like this people can speculate that we simply got outbid, but we’re probably never going to get the full story.

I look at it this way: the reporting for weeks indicated that Illinois had the inside track on Stojakovic. It’s a reasonable assumption then that UNC must have made a strong financial offer to even be in consideration that late in the process. It’s very possible that the money was roughly equal but the guy just liked the fit/situation at Illinois more for whatever reason. It’s not always a black and white process where programs are bidding on players auction style and the highest offer automatically wins.

Did you read Rock’s post?

Of course players/agents are using other programs to jack up the offer. UNC may be playing that role in some of these negotiations.

I understand this is going to make me kind of sound like a douche but I don’t always trust what the people like Travis Branham say. They are often being used by agents to push a narrative/get more money for their clients.

It’s possible Stojakovic actually did care about “basketball fit” but 99% of the time, it’s simply who pays the most and then people make up things after the fact to try and not seem greedy. I heard Illinois offered 5 million. I don’t think it’s a coincidence it took this long when schools were having a bidding war for him.

I say that as someone who is very intimate with the inner workings of the University of Kansas basketball program as well. Nine out of 10 players don’t care about anything but who will pay them the most.

From what I've read there was a debate about him actually being worth that much.

There were some, we done have money, why can't we sign players like dook, and a few of the something must be wrong types.

I don't think it's quite 90%. Probably closer to 85%.
