They said Oates would only allow him to shoot 3’s and layups… no mid-range jumpers. But supposedly it’s that mid-range game which he has in his arsenal. The thinking is that he can do a lot more of that at UNC. Elbow jumpers from the FT line and such should improve his over-all FG%.

But as others have said, it’s his defense on perimeter vs. 2, 3’s and stretch 4’s and 5’s. Jarin should be a huge upgrade from JWash… At any position, both offensively and most definitely on defense. An upgrade for the team in that trade off.

Lots of really good college players never play in the NBA.

I don’t think we’re expecting Antwan Jamison here.
Exactly. We’ve had some pretty good bigs who washed out in the pros but who were AA’s in college.
Nobody is expecting Jarin to be like Bacot, but he was a 3rd team AA who went undrafted.

Positional versatility on offense and defense. Can knock down the corner 3

If he is a Drake replacement not good. If he is backup up mins at the 3 not bad

That's how I am thinking, too. Unfortunately, most of the players they are getting seem to be more backup players on Carolina teams in the past.

All I will say about Catchings is that he was texting the staff this afternoon saying he was coming.

No idea. Will try and get a scoop tomorrow.

Odd one for sure

All I heard about Catchings entering the portal was he was only after the most $. Wherever that was

I know that's the mindset for most players but it didn't sound like there were many other factors playing into his decision

Wonder if it was a case of him trying to get one final offer out of UGA

Wishful thinking IMO.

ETA: in any event, when/how does Hubert's offense create elbow jumpers for forwards?

Co-worker hsa ties to Acaden Lewis, says he de-committed from Kentucky and is good friends with Caleb Wilson and Derek Dixon.

Yeah…

Pretty good job of solidifying the front court but the staff’s reluctance to bringing in on ball guards (after losing 3) makes no sense
